Last year, I had a crush on this cute guy that I'll call T.
T heard that I liked him and said "Honestly, I don't like you."
I took that as he was straight.
I was EXTREMELY pissed about the whole thing and made a Facebook status about it.

This guy W in my history class saw my post.
Thus, he wanted to fight me.
A psychologist told me later that he wanted to fight me because he's homophobic.
I told my friend Jenna what happened. She told W what I said, and the next day I heard W say, "He's (me) trying to get you to be on his side!"
Mind you, W and Jenna are friends.

I asked people what I could do about this situation.
W has a friend named Vincent (who I was crushing on as well) and people told me to talk to Vinny about it so he could tell W not to fight me.
I got too scared (considering me and Vinny were friends too; we almost had sex) and didn't approach him about everything.
W's 2 close friends were Vinny and this asshole named R.
Vinny and R kept supporting W, and kept encouraging W to fight me.

Because of my anxiety, on 25 April 2013, I was in history class. W had been talking to a friend of his and thought of ways to publicly embarrass and humiliate me.
His plan worked; I stood up during class and then some earwax came out my ears. I was extremely embarrassed.
I still struggle with my earwax issue now.

I never fought W and never spoke to Vinny about this.

If you guys have any questions or comments, I'd be happy to read them!

I'm sorry you had to deal with those homophobes. It's good that you didn't fight.

Remember, the world's changing all the time and in 200 years the last homophobes will have died out and you'll be laughing in your grave.

Now, How are you? If they try to talk with you, you should have the opportunity to say "Homophobos" to them.

Hi Leon, I'm slightly better. People are still talking shit about me and I can't do anything about it.

People on the outside at least after high school are less of a dick. So just try to survive high school. Things will get better.

Thanks for the great reply. I graduated high school in June though. I'm so glad I survived!

I'll echo what others said here. It's still pretty bad, but we've come a long way with LGBT+ acceptance, and we will continue to move on. Sooner or later, homophobia will be viewed like racism is - a really, really bad thing to have. And, sometimes, I feel like it's happening right now, because when I called someone out for using "gay" as an insult, they seemed really defensive on how they weren't homophobic.

Are you asking for advice about this situation? Or did I miss your actual question?

No, DangerAlex, it clearly states "If you guys have any questions or comments, I'd be happy to read them!".

I saw that, but I thought maybe the OP had forgotten to post his question or maybe I'd just missed it. But I guess he was just sharing a story and inviting feedback and further questions.

To each their own I guess.
