To be honest, I would prefer texting. It gives you time to think about your reply and it's more discreet. Talking on the phone feels much better, but the chances of saying something you shouldn't have are higher, since you don't have the time texting provides to rethink your words before you say them, unless you like to stay silent for a couple of minutes, plus if your conversations are getting a little spicy and someone accidentally overhears, you're gonna have a bad time ...
So, yeah, texting for the more inexperienced/shy couples and talking for the advanced !

texting, although I can be called if I get to know the person a bit more and get more comfortable with them. I'm very shy

I really dislike talking on the phone, texting is much easier. I'm really shy, and it's easier for me to express myself through text, as well as say things I might be too embarrassed to say out loud.

I hate both??? I always procrastinate texting people back and then I remember weeks later that I still haven't texted them back... same with e-mail.

But talking on the phone is even worse, so... I'll say texting.

Definitely texting. I feel that I'm less nervous and can articulate myself better in a text.

I actually don't enjoy talking on the phone that much, unless it's someone I really like. I always feel kind of awkward and sometimes have trouble understanding the other person, and generally I prefer real-life conversations.

Texting first, then as we get to know each other, talking on the phone is good. It also depends on the matter, if you want to have a long random conversation, then a phone would be best. Though, texting does give me the luxury to think of an answer and allow me to respond whenever I want.

Texting... less pressure. And after doing 2 telephone surveying jobs nearly a decade ago, I am all but deathly allergic to phone calls

I work in a job where I am on the phone talking to customers all day so if I chat to other people out of business hours for my own person reasons, I much prefer texting or some kind of message app where you can chat by writing messages to each other.. That way you can respond when you can.. I hate it when a conversation on the phone suddenly lulls and there is an awkward weird silence when you both don't know what to say next so texting is better for me.

Texting. Talking on the phone makes me nervous, those awkward silences.
