Here's a suggestion, and it's what I do to discover new music. Go on Youtube, look up bands that you like, and add the word " List " to your search, you will find compilations that people have made of music that includes the bands or artists you like. You most likely will find another artist you'll like in that list because it already has the criteria or genre of music that you enjoy. I basically find all my music that way, and discover artists that I enjoy on a daily basis, the people I listen to changes all the time because of this, I can't even keep up with it all.
go to rateyourmusic.com or last.fm, find a genre you've never heard of, pick one of the highest rated artists and search for it on YouTube
Try using the radio feature on one of your favourite artists, it'll give you something similar to that artist and you'll find a lot of new artists.
Based on what you're normally listening to, you'll probably like Scattle, M|O|O|N, and perhaps Moderat and Gold Panda
