So I have been finding myself cooking a lot more than normal lately and it's like the best thing at the end of my day to let go of stress. Anyone else have weird ways of of alleviating stress(please don't go where I know all want to drag this thread to pg please)

Cooking can be very relaxing indeed.

Although I rarely have stress, I think drawing, writing (comics) can also put you in the relax mode.

I tend to punch things (not people). It surprises me how effective it can be.

Well, more specifically, I think I understand why it works. The same mechanism that makes us stressed is what originally prepared the body for physical exertion like running and fighting. So hitting things tends to help relieve stress.

I don't think that's unusual. My ex liked to bake when he was particularly stressed. If there were lemon cakes, I knew something was up.

I like to take walks, myself. Something about the physical motion balances my thoughts a bit. I also watch cartoons, it's nice to get absorbed into worlds like that to get your mind off of your worries for a little while.

It's not unusual. I'd actually encourage it since it's productive and needs to be done. It's just as good as say...painting, drawing, or going for a run when you're stressed .

Yes, it's normal, and you get a great reward at the end! As long as you're not gaining a lot of weight quickly, you'll be fine. Actually, you could combine this with exercise.

Lol, cooking takes so much time, I absolutely LOVE it and enjoy it if I have free time, but otherwise, it's kind of annoying haha

For me.. I don't cook much but I can understand why it relieves stress.
concentrating on the task .. leaves no space for intrusive stressful thoughts about work, or whatever has been getting at you

I love cooking sometimes, especially for people you love. It can be very enjoyable and rewarding, and yes, help relieve stress.
