Often! I use it as a coping mechanism. "At least I'm not as bad as that guy."

Yea. I know it is bad to. I know youre not supposed to. But I cant help it. It is a reminder of how much time I have wasted, how much time I am wasting, how much time I am losing, how little time I have left.... how unhappy my future will be...

I know I need to stop comparing myself to other people but I can't help it, I compare my self to every person I see, and I mean every person. Everyone is prettier, smarter, more talented, nicer, skinnier, every thing better than what I can be. It's a big issue and I'm try not to compare myself to others as much.

No, there is nobody like me! Mother is as close as it gets to me but 22years older and much heavier! LOL! Each person is different so why worry about what I'm not! I do the best I can to be the the best woman I can be, accentuating my attributes! June

It's not something I'm proud of doing but yeah. I have learned though to take it as a challenge to become a better me.

I do it sometimes, as it can give you reasone why you are like others or not, and I find that really interesting.

Physically, I compare myself to other people. I envy people who are in great shape, and women with lovely perky, small breasts and flawless skin.

    (P.S. I'm in shape too - round is a shape :lol:slight_smile:

I also compare my social skills and general knowledge, and sense of direction to that of others, and always feel inferior and clueless :icon_sad:

Yes. I wouldn't be able to judge where I stand without comparing myself to others.

    That.

I'd like to add, if I don't take time to compare myself, then I'll never know where I am in life. I might think I'm one place, but actually be in another. When you ignore others, you miss out on catching a glimpse of potential outcomes, for you or others in general. Sometimes, acknowledging the worst in someone, is the best means of not becoming just that.

I have to say yes, I do. Sometimes positively and other times negatively. I see it as a way of self analyzing where you are and where you want to be in or don't want to be in life. It has been a helpful tool to me because especially in my work life where if I feel I am not performing as wel as someone else, instead of dragging me down and making me feel worse, it encourages me to press on and help myself do what is necessary to be more like the person I am comparing myself to.

Yes and no. I am obviously aware of others' accomplishments, but my personality is such that I have a reflexive need to judge myself first on my own capabilities. I do compare myself to those who are similar to me or who I really respect.

Nah, not really. I mean, I used to do it a lot and I used to get quite jealous of my brother and some other friends but now I just accept that some succeed more than others.

I'm really really bad for it.

My brother, all my family members, the people I work with. I always feel like the odd one out whereas they fit in, so I'm always comparing.

I know it's really bad and a silly thing to do, but I just can't stop doing it lol.

    Aww, Rosepetal! :frowning2:
I've been close to crying at school too. And I NEVER cry.

I also compare, which is why I'll probably never be in a relationship.

The past few weeks I've been comparing myself to others a LOT, to a point where it can't be healthy anymore. I've been out of school for a year now, a college drop out I suppose, even though I want to continue - I'm seeing people around me do much better, while I'm just stuck at this shitty job that's not really getting me anywhere.

I'm not like this at all usually, but it's been getting to me real bad lately.

Yes, all the time. I often compare myself to the ones my age that I see on facebook that for example: just got into medical school. And it makes me feel like a loser, but it also motivates me to do something. I probably shouldn't compare myself to others, but I/you can't help it. It's very hard not to.
