The reason I get affected by homophobic comment is because they are simply not true most of the time. But I guess people haven't walked a mile in a gay person's shoes, so they will say things that are utterly stupid. Is there any other way to change people's minds than "educating" them, because some people just will not listen.

There's no way, I'm sorry. But there is something you can do, though it isn't easy. Stop being affected. I used to be, and I'm not anymore. It's just something you learn to forget about.

So then how did you stop letting it affect you?

You can educate people, but not everyone is willing to listen. They are not interested and keep thinking the way they think. It's better to avoid those who are not willing to educate themselves.

You could educate them, but you can't can't educate a person who doesn't want to be educated. My advise? Stay positive. I know that can be ridiculously hard to do, but if you stay positive that will at least make it hard for them to be negative about about you.

I really hope this helped you in a way.

They get away with it when they're not exposed to gay people.

Not sure. I said it wasn't easy. There isn't anything you can just hear to make it go away. I think there is a kind of instinct inside people that makes us care about the opinions of people we don't know, and who hate us.
