when i was 10 i had no hair anywhere on my body and my voice is very calm and more girly i always walk unique unlike other boys something i love about myself
it was winter and i went to buy some stuff for my mom (my mother loves colors and never allows me to dress anything dark so i always dress colorful) but still i wear boys cloth when i talked to the man in the shop he talked to me like im a girl i thought he is joking at first then before i got out he asked me so whats your name little girl i havent seen you around here before
i looked back and said im a boy and went home i was angry because so many people mistaken me for girls when i wear hats that covers my head even at school so unless i dont wear a hat they think im a girl :icon_sad:
anyone else had similar stories in childhood or in present time??

I never have, since I keep my hair short and my voice is somewhat deep. I've never been mistaken for another gender at all.

Yep. I had long-ish straight hair for a little while and from the back I was mistaken for a girl. Not my greatest moment >.< my long hair did look terrible.

Not that looking feminine is bad, but when that wasn't the intent, it wasn't cool hehe.

I'm trans so. Every day I'm mistaken for a girl by my own family.

Once or twice, yes, mainly if they only see me from behind and don't hear me talk.

Before puberty, people mistook me for a girl or my mom over the phone (never in person, though).

On the phone when I was a bit younger. My voice didn't really change until I was 16.

Also, I've been mistaken for a girl online based on things I've written.

Otherwise, I've always had short hair and worn guy's clothing so unlikely for anyone to mistake my gender by looking at me.

When I was younger, I had shoulder length hair and people did mistake me for a girl. I didn't mind. Now though, I don't think they'd mistake me for a girl even if I had long hair.

For me, the question is whether I've ever been seen as my true gender. Yes, one time in eighth grade. And a situation that could have been interpreted as it...

In eighth grade, we had a substitute teacher, so she didn't know any of us. I had a beanie on, and I guess she didn't see my long hair. When she called role for the first time, I was turned around and talking to someone. Then she said, "Sir? You need to face forward." I turned around and realized she was talking about me. Even though she did that, I think it was because I was turned around, but still... I look back on that memory and it makes me happy.

Later, I told one of my classmate friends that story, and she awkwardly said, "Yeah, with that beanie on, you do sometimes look like a... boy..." and I could tell she messed up and wanted to disappear, but I actually liked it when she said that. But she was really embarrassed.

Yep, when I've had long hair. I have a kind of slim, boyish look, with little facial/body hair, so it has happened fairly often.

yes, i am really really boyish so when i had short hair it was easy to be called "sir" or "mister"

it was a nice punch in the self-esteem most days, tho some days i embraced it a lot and enjoyed it

I'm not even 100% certain what my gender is, but most people see me as female despite being male.

I have when I was younger, around 11-13. I used to keep my hair short and wore boyish clothes back then. It doesn't really happen anymore, though.

When I was very little (5-7), I had long hair, and gender isn't so easy to gauge on a small child. I was occasionally confused for a girl.

The funny thing is, I remember that I didn't like the noticeably different way people talked to me when they confused me for a girl. :rolle:

Yes when I was younger and answered the phone. My voice is deeper now.

I've been mistaken for a woman once. I had curly hair. The man was so drunk that he didn't seem to care either way though.

I suppose technically, all the time. But the funny thing is that I get mistaken for a girl much more often whenever I'm in Europe.
