So I got tagged in one of those 'tag a friends' thing on facebook which generally is fine but this one said 'tag a friend who watches gay porn'. Now, I laughed it off at first but then I started thinking. Is this homophobic? I mean, Its kind of saying that people who watch gay porn are bad. Disgusting, ect. What do you guys think? Am I reading into this too much? Should I laugh it off?
I'd say it's homophobic if it comes with something else clearly mocking gay people, like a derogatory image or disgusted smiley for example, or if the context is along the lines of tagging someone who does weird, wrong, gross things. Otherwise, I don't think so...it's just like saying "tag a friend who likes this particular colour" and there's no problem with that.
I think you're reading into it way too much. I personally wouldn't take it as being homophobic unlike, like Emulator said it was something out of the ordinary image-wise, and besides gay porn is awesome not disgusting!
