The title is tongue-in-cheek and I hope it doesn't offend anyone. I have a lot of respect for people who do everything they can for nature and all living things in it!

Edit: I should probably add my answer. I'm a vegan and I try to meditate daily. I try to live with as quiet a mind as possible, and only use my mind when it is needed.

Hehe, I guess I'm regarded as a bit of a 'hippie type' as I'm basically vego and do meditate...and have a general sense of goodwill to all living beings. But I think there are lots of non-hippies who also feel this way. I don't think 'hippy-ness' is just about the criteria listed above; it's a bit more subtle and hard to define. But I think if one liked the Beatles, dressed in a certain way, was vego, meditated, and had a general sense of hoping to bring about some kind of Global Awakening, one could perhaps be regarded as a 'hippie'. But I do get that you mean this tongue-in-cheek, and not in seriousness.

Yes, there's a lot more to being a hippie than what you eat and what you (don't) do with your mind. I would consider a person a hippie if they live off of whatever nature provides and don't use money.

    Why are the results hidden?
BTW, I'm omnivore and I meditate when I need.

Not much of a hippie at all. XD I try to meditate to calm my mind down, but it still runs wild. And I couldn't live without meat.

According to this - not at all. I eat whatever I want and I have never meditated (and probably never will as I don't see the point)

Meditation is very useful, but it can be hard to calm the mind sometimes. I never had a massive taste for meat, so it was pretty easy to give up for me. Milk chocolate on the other hand......

    Updated stats:
    Code:
    I'm a vegan and I meditate. 1 8.33%
    I'm a vegan and I don't meditate. 1 8.33%
    I'm a vegetarian and I meditate. 1 8.33%
    I'm a vegetarian and I don't meditate. 0 0%
    I'm an omnivore and I meditate. 2 16.67%
    I'm an omnivore and I don't meditate. 7 58.33%
Interesting stats so far. 22.2% of omnivores meditate and 66% of vegetarians and vegans combined. Not exactly a huge sample size, but it's still fun.

Edit, this was posted while I was posting:

Like I said, the title is tongue-in-cheek and I definitely don't define a hippie as this. It was just a fun title. If you consider yourself a hippie I won't say you aren't simply because you're an omnivore and don't meditate.

Vegan, very much concerned about the treatment of all living beings (humans & non-human animals) and the protection of our environment.

    Don't meditate, however.

Mother Nature is lovely, isn't she?

    I'm a vegetarian and I meditate. 1 7.69%
    I'm a vegetarian and I don't meditate. 0 0%
    I'm an omnivore and I meditate. 2 15.38%
    I'm an omnivore and I don't meditate. 7 53.85%
Interesting, I didn't predict this. There are more vegans that don't meditate than vegans who do so far. This is actually the case with the people (all the 3 people ) I know in real life who are vegans: 2 don't meditate, 1 does.

Lol, meditating vegan. I'm aware of my hippy tendencies, but it's mixed in heavily with punk.

Yes, Hexagon! Now we're 4 meditating vegans vs. 2 non-meditating vegans.

    Code:
    I'm a vegan and I meditate. 4 23.53%
    I'm a vegan and I don't meditate. 2 11.76%
    I'm a vegetarian and I meditate. 1 5.88%
    I'm a vegetarian and I don't meditate. 0 0%
    I'm an omnivore and I meditate. 2 11.76%
    I'm an omnivore and I don't meditate. 8 47.06%
Seems like the rate of vegans/vegetarians is significantly higher in our community than the general population thus far. I was actually expecting it, but it's interesting to see the numbers.

Gallup from 2012 shows 5% in America are vegetarian and 2% are vegans.

    Edit:

Updated poll results, because more people responded.

You should ask the mods to make them public. And I'm happy to be of service increasing our numbers

Thanks. I already asked in this thread earlier, but now I posted in the help and feedback forum as well. Maybe they're more likely to see it there. Not sure how I managed to mess up the poll settings in the first place. :eusa_doh:

An omnivore? What is that? Or will I regret asking? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

This, although the literal translation would be someone who eats anything. Wow, so far 50% of the responders are vegans or vegetarians! That's way more than I anticipated!
