Adelaide doesn't even make it into the competition? I'm pretty Adelaide OWNS Melbourne and Sydney (well, not literally). I mean, we're "The City of Churches" and what do you have? An oversized bridge and a good tram system? Case closed ![]()

And then heaps of Melbournian shopping centres are all over the list. Also continuing on with the architecture point, six of the ten tallest buildings in Australia are from Melbourne, AND three more buildings which are being built will be in the top ten over the next few years. BTW another mistake, Eureka isn't the tallest residential building in the world. Q1 is, but that's because they stuck a 60M toothpick on top of it. Eureka is the tallest to roof, number of floors and highest habitable floors. Also Melbourne city isn't all grid-based. The CBD is a grid, and then the newer areas such as Southbank and the Docklands aren't on the grid, but they're still easy to navigate at least. And talking about navigating around Melbourne, is IS easy! If you get lost, you just need to identify a landmark you know and you'll be easly able to tell where you are.

| Guest Posts: n/a | Obviously Bendigo is the best of the best............but only because I'm here. =) I haven't been to Sydney yet, I'll probably try and high jack a few friends this year and take a trip there though. It sucks that none of them are 18 yet though or else I could talk them into going earlier. |

Kind of expresses my feelings towards Australia. And all of its cities. (It might not be funny if you only read the subtitles, I'm not sure)

See Sydney relies on the Opera House and Harbour Bridge to maintain its status, when Melbourne on the other hand has lots more to make it a better overall city.

The shopping wasn't as good as Melbourne, the people weren't nearly as friendly and things were laid out horribly. Not even centrepoint tower convinced me. |
