It's that time of the year again! So how/is anyone celebrating their German heritage? I know in my town we have a fairly small German population but for an entire week we feel like the majority. Setting up activities, and sharing the culture. Its really quite beautiful.

I have some German ancestry; my last name is German, but it's a very uncommon one. My family is apparently the only family with that name in my home state.

I've never really celebrated my Teutonic heritage much, though. Nothing against it, I guess I just don't identify with it too much. My Slovenian ancestry I seem to know more about. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

But to all those people who say the German language is "ugly"--a pox on thee. The German language is beautiful and I love hearing it sung, particularly in works like "Die Dreigroschenoper" and the operas of Wagner.

I'm German on Mom's side. She's the daughter of immigrants.
