It never makes me satisfied. If anything, it makes me even more unsatisfied than I was before I watched. But for some reason I still keep going back to it, and I can't explain why...

    Any thoughts or differing opinions?

Well it's going to be different for different people.

For me it's like scratching an itch that I'd just as soon rather didn't exist at all (and therefore wouldn't have to scratch it).

Most people prefer to use some form of mental stimulus when masturbating. It could be that pornography isn't enough to satisfy you, but you still desire some form of inspiration when those times roll around. Have you tied viewing different types of entertainment? Many people who are much more interested in intimacy and experience when it comes to sexual activity tend to prefer to read spicy scenes rather than view them.

I have dabbled a little, but not much. I've enjoyed the read material.

After I'm done watching I feel disgusted at myself and I can't believe I actual enjoyed what I just saw. It makes me feel... dirty. I basically hate myself afterwards and I'm extremely ashamed.

Well, that's the real issue then. How could you be satisfied by something that makes you feel guilty?

It's normal to feel turned off after masturbation, but guilt and disgust takes it to a slightly higher level that might indicate other issues.

But really, if it doesn't satisfy you and makes you feel guilty afterward, sounds like you really don't need it.

I've never watched porn. I've tried it, of course, but it never really did anything for me. I just masturbate without it.

As has been mentioned, I think the guilt sounds like your real issue. A lot of people grow up being taught that sex (of certain kinds of it) are shameful, and that's a difficult thing to get over, even when it's made perfectly clear that it's not.

Porn is a very addictive and the reason people keep going back to it is because , we like that it release a lot of dopamine and with porn after watching one thing you get bored with it after a while so you have to watch harder and harder stuff . It's like a drug addiction .

porn is my anti-drug, haha! But seriously, I don't think I would have learned about my sexuality so quickly if I never watched porn. Porn allows you to experience things that would be taboo in real life, even something as simple as gay sex. I actually think porn is very useful in that regard (though, not everyone who watches gay porn is gay per se). It can be addictive, but it seems the addictive nature is due to the personality of the viewer (unfortunately that includes me :/ ). Anyway, porn helped me to have some sexual release all these years I was closeted.

I like it because it adds variety, and I can see things that I can't IRL. I don't watch any traditional porn, but there's a few fetishes I like to watch (puppy-play, latex, cos-play), as well as furry porn, and animated pron, that offer a bit of imagination, and help me 'experience' scenarios that would be either too expensive or impossible for me to create IRL. And I've found this to be very liberating, an expansion of sorts, a tearing down of walls and breaking of taboos.

I don't find porn appealing that much to begin with. It's just for certain people. Don't feel like you have to like it.

This is true, however I think we should make a few things clear. I was taught in school that porn will lead to homosexuality, then bestiality and pedophilia. It is a slippery slope(no pun intended), but it isn't nearly as depraved as some make it to be.

I could have said that word for word.

For that reason, I am not 'anti-porn,' though it can become an addiction, just like coffee, booze, sex, or indeed crystal meth.

Video porn just... creeps me out? I'd say the lack of realism from what little l've experienced (unrealistic bodies, scenarios, reactions) bugs me, yet at the same time the fact that it's real people also alienates me?? I much prefer written or drawn but eVEN THEN it's hard to find something that isn't icky for me

EpicConfusion, can you explain what it is about viewing porn that leaves you with the feelings of shame and disgust? I too experience these feelings with porn, but my reasoning may be different to yours.

I haven't viewed porn for a long time, but I used to watch a lot more when I was single. I'm fairly sure I was using it as a substitute for the physical intimacy that was lacking in my own life at the time. Might it be the same for you? It's possible that your porn habit will subside when you experience what you have been viewing (hopefully a lot better that what you have been viewing).

Have you tried finding porn that doesn't make you feel that way? I know that there are certain types of porn I can watch and most other things make me feel "dirty". Maybe you just haven't found what you're comfortable with??
