John McCain said today he's "suspending" his campaign to help with the economic crisis going on in the U.S. right now. He also wans to postpone the first debate which is this Friday evening. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...ampaign-calls-for-first-debate-to-be-delayed/
Come on, Johnny. You don't have to be at your desk the whole time for your campaign to keep going. They can advertise you without having you around. Not that I'm complaining though...
Some important details that I'm highlighting from that article: Obama is doing this too, and it would appear that the two will be working together, at least in some limited fashion. Despite the vicious campaigns, it doesn't seem like McCain and Obama dislike one another. For instance, the two seemed to get along well in New York for the 9/11 anniversary, one even chuckling at something the other said. There are also many issues that the two agree on, they simply have different ideas on what must be done about them.
Both McCain an Obama are going to be going the White House this afternoon to work with Bush and Congressional leaders to work on the Bailout proposal. See what happens. They need to pass this very soon.
MMMM he is realy going to "help".... Inless spending trillions of dolars on bombing iraq will help.....
Did anyone else see The Late Show with David Letterman last night? He was supposed to be a guest on the show, but called and cancelled at the last minute claiming he had to "race to the airport" to watch over our economy. But later on in the show, Dave cut to a live video shot of McCain getting makeup done for an interview with Katie Couric... only a few blocks away and nowhere near the airport. Letterman was not happy:
For someone with a pitiful voting record in Congress (although Obama's ain't much better), it's suprising that NOW he's concerned about his role in helping shape America... Lex
That actually seems to be a fad in Congress that's growing in popularity - the less you vote, the fewer enemies you make, the better the chances of being reelected or elected to a higher office.
