What makes you gay? (Homophobe edition)

    About two weeks ago, I had an extensive conversation with one of my "friends" (kinda, I'm not quite sure) at my school. He is very religious and holds his views and opinions to an unchanging degree. We had a respectable conversation about religion in general and then I decided to try to understand his opposing view towards gay people. I asked him why he thinks people are gay and he pretty much replied; demons whisper into our ears and tempt us to like the same sex and not like the opposite sex. I surely did not expect this response and it was at that point that I knew there was no possible way in the entire universe for me to change his opinions the slightest bit. He completely places his beliefs and opinions in control of his religion and has decided to consider nothing else (facts, studies, people, etc.) in his forming of them. Thus, this got me wondering, what weird/interesting explanations have you heard as to what makes people gay?

    anyway the typical "childhood sexual abuse made you gay" thing, gotten pretty sick of that one

    That's pretty funny almost better than when my youth pasted said it was the ghost of Harvey Milk. I started laughing but stopped when I realized I was the only one that knew who he was. I am still confused at how gayness worked before him though lol

    Oh, its just a phase Alchemy!
    You're gay because you didn't have a strong male role model growing up Alchemy!
    Were you sexually abused as a child Alchemy?
    You're gay because you're being influenced by Satan, Alchemy!

    and my absolute favorite (and sadly, I wish I were making this one up)

    Well Alchemy, you know shorter men have a tendency to be gay right? (I stand about 5'4 in my bare feet)

    My mom believe gay is caused by demons after reading a novel that is loosely based on the bible but not actually the bible.

    I've never actually had someone say to my face what they think makes someone gay. I've just had people tell me that gay people are "a bunch of perverts," "sick bastards," and that homosexuality's a mental disorder.

    That being said, I've heard pretty much all the arguments:

    It's a choice
    Abused as a child
    Overbearing mother/absent father
    Possessed by a demon

    Gayness originated from white men as they are genetically inferior to blacks and the spread of the gay agenda and the existent of blacks gays are a result of brainwashing to emasculate black men.

    Gayness is a result of chemicals in food that feminize men and is than marketed to black people to make black men more feminine.

    Getting raped in the but turn men gay that is why the prison system is set up to imprison so many black men to further emasculate them and turn them gay.

    Yes these are real explanations I heard for why people are gay :bang:.

    That actually makes it sound a bit like he's tempted by the same sex "demons" as well.

    The oddest explaination I've received from someone is that they thought I was gay because I experimented with drugs.

    My mom says the same thing it's demons ,and it's a vice . Let's see I heard it's girls that have a bad relationship with their mothers, so they seek love from women because they didn't get it from their mom . Not having a good relationship with your father makes you a lesbian , and I heard not having a good relationship with both parents .
    Now having a good dick , crappy sex with men can turn you lesbian and being raped or molested .

    This is my favourite: "Demons take possession of your body, and lure you into sleeping with the same sex, because homosexual humans cannot reproduce, ensuring that the seed that impregnates the other is of the demon."

    Because, you know. There are thousands of cases of gay demon babies...


    ...And men getting pregnant.

    EDIT: Some of these are ridiculously funny. And some of them are disgusting.

    Wow, I'm surprised that you all seemed to get the demon arguments as well. I thought it was just a weird belief of this one kid. As for the other explanations, my grandma thinks it's because I didn't have a father as I grew up and I only lived around other girls. When I actually sit down and think about it though, who's to say that environmental factors don't play a role? I think the question of what makes a person gay is a very interesting one (when its actually taken seriously through study and science). I feel like the answer may lie mostly in epigenetics.

    My biodad said it all comes from reading too much into enjoying sex with the same gender. Blah blah, fetish, blah blah blah.

    When I came out as bi, mom asked if I was just trying to expand my dating pool. No luck with men, guess I gotta acquire a taste for box.
