Are gay women allowed to donate blood?

    In Canada, gay women can give blood. Men can't give blood if they had sexual contacts with another man less than 5 years ago.

    I think lesbians can. As long as they haven't had sex with a guy...who's had sex with a guy.

    Yeah, it's dumb either way.

    I think so. Most of the discrimination is against gay men because of HIV (nevermind the fact that straight people are also at risk).

    I'm pretty sure women can.

    I think it's only banned for men who've had sex with other men.

    It's only ever been banned for men who have ever had sex with men. Any woman should be able to donate it. Not that I agree with it by any means, as it persecutes against gay and bisexual men and it means that I won't be able to donate blood at some point, but that's just what you've got to live with.
