What Warms Your Heart?

    Yet another topic, with yet another question.

    When I look back upon my life, there is very little love. However, there have been many things, I have enjoyed doing, and really liked to engage and indulge in. This has got me thinking, not only about myself, but others as well, and what makes them 'feel good', you know, have a heart-warming sensation.

    Basically, what makes you feel appreciated/loved/fuzzy on the inside? Is it when somebody compliments you? When someone, a lover or friend, gives you a reassuring word or hug? When you do 'the right thing', and see how it brings a little more good into the world? When you do or say something, to somebody you like/love/respect/care for, and see their mood pick up?

    For some, it may be as simple as seeing kittens. For others, it might be a tad more complex, but I am still curious.

    Errr... there are other things, like crushing, getting something I worked for very hard...
    I'd have to think some more.

    Fire warms my heart, but it burns the rest of my internal organs. Not recommended.

    On a serious note, learning new stuff. I'm heading into geek territory here, but learning new things about the world - e.g. a new type of weird sea creature, or how the inhabitants of an ancient empire lived - actually does something good to me.

    Also, kittens. That's a good answer.

    What warms my heart is my niece. She is my whole world right now and I just love her more then I ever thought it was possible to love. Her smile, her giggles and just how adorable she is makes my heart warm.

    I wish I could say something more then that, like having someone who loves me romantically just as much as I do, however knowing my niece adores me and loves me for who I am feels pretty good right now.

    Awww! I feel the same way about my niece. She loves me and always calls me the best aunty in the whole world. She's definitely someone I would die for if it came down to it! I never really cared much for little kids until my nieces and nephew came along. They changed my views and now I feel like I have a real special purpose in life.. to be a great, loving aunty.

    Puppies (dogs in general, especially Pit Bull-type dogs), seeing a father caring for his child (example: a father hugging his little girl, so sweet), meeting someone in one of the same fandoms as me (yay), when I make others happy, etc. :grin:

    my dogs, i have a big heart for rescue dogs. also i love being reasured or told im doing good and making people happy with my work, it makes me float. a big loving bear hug is amazing.

    Not necessarily in order:

    Writing. It’s the one thing that cannot let me down. Even if I share too much of it and get rejected I can still regroup and go on. So long as I can type I can write! Also working with other writers to refine their work. Playwrights especially!

    Theatre. Seeing an amazing play. Working with other actors. Watching them have an epiphany based upon a direction I gave them. Seeing a young actor (or really ANY actor) perk up at my unbridled blurt of “excellent!” when they do something brilliant.

    Classic Novels. I’m talking waaaaay classic like Austen and Bronte and DuMaurier and my ultimate favorite, Oscar Wilde. I have so many antique books!

    Old Movies. John Garfield, James Cagney, Rita Hayworth, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, oh so many!

    Foreign Films. I like the ones by Cocteau, Bunuel, Fellini, Bergman, Hertzog, and above all others, Luchino Visconti!

    Animals. My kitty cat hunkering down in bed watching me until I finally open my eyes and acknowledge her.

    That is the short list. Hopefully one day I can talk about a special someone. Until then, it’s the simple things that keep me going. :slight_smile:

    There is no sweeter sound than the deep-throated exclamation of joy that constitutes the gut-splitting laughter of a toddler. And I had the privilege of hearing it often when my three were just wee little tykes.
