Androgynous means having aspects of both sexes, so that it's difficult to ascertain what gender a person is. It's generally applied to a "look". This is an androgynous look. Lex
Oh! Ok. There's an androgynous kid at my school. Using big words like that makes me feel intelligent. Lol.
haha i luurve using big words-its so much fun! me and my friends try to slip them into convos as much as poss my favourite at the moment is 'umbridge', just coz its sooo hasnt been used for like 70 years lol. i quite often now go (in a posh english accent...not that mine isnt already posh but meh lol) 'Sir, i take umbridge at your scandalous accusations.' but my best one ever was without doubt 'theres a veritable smorgasbord of options on the table, but discombobulatingly i can't decide which one has the most virtue' that was a gold medal sentence methinks lol
It's umbrage, actually. The Potter character is named after the word, but she modified the spelling so it would look more like a surname. I prefer to use umbrage as to mean shadow. That's not been used in that context for around 500 years. Comes from the Latin umbra, meaning shade. Funnily enough, Umbridge's first name, Dolores, descends etymologically from the Latin dolour, meaning pain.
