ok so i just finished reading a story that birdo(my avatar if you didnt know) from the mario series was originally a "boy that thinks hes a girl and wants to be called birdetta" as read in a manual for one of birdo's games. But eventually they basically gave her a sex change. But seriously they should have kept birdo as a boy because that kind of videogame character would have been quite refreshing especially in a nintendo franchise!

and it would broaden their fan base with the inclusion of transexuals.

Yes, Birdo was originally male, and I still consider it a male. Nintendo has tried to cover their tracks by saying it's a female now, but it's too hard to change an impression like that. If you've seen the Captain Rainbow videos, Birdo has a very distinctly male voice.

OMG!!! Theres a hidden gay conspiracy within Nintendo! thats crazy though that birdo was a man, i always thought IT was a male, but now i know that yoshi and birdo r gay. it wouldnt really strike me as surprising if yoshi was gay, he always just seemed like it, always lettin an italian plaumber ride him like that, he knows he liked it.

Actually technically Doki Doki Panic (was that being to much of a nerd) If you don't what I'm talking the Super Mario Bros 2 released in the western markets wasn't the real Super Mario 2 it’s a rerelease of a Japanese game Doki Doki Panic, look it up.

I've know about about about the Mario 2 manual saying Birdo is a boy who think he's a girl but never really thought about it. Personally I think something go lost in translation rather than Nintendo making a statement about transsexuals.

to be fair, yoshi is just as weird...he's a boy...but he lays eggs?!?! XD
i think in the mario strikers charged (wii) manual, it referred to birdo as 'he'.

Actually in the old Mario 2 there were different colour Birdo's in the different levels. There was a green one that spat fireballs i think! God havent played that for years!

Indeed there was. One spat only eggs, another only fireballs, one had a mix of the two...so many memories...

Excuse me, I'll be on my couch playing Super Mario All Stars for the next few minutes.

In the Super Mario II, Birdo was a boy. Nintendo changed the gender shortly after the game. Who would have thought Nintendo would create a character with gender issues :lol:even if it wasn't intentional.

    Obviously Birdo is a male:

Males are the opposite of female.
Birdo shoots eggs out of his mouth.
Females shoot eggs out of the opposite extremity.

    Q.E.D

And Yoshi's eggs aren't fertilized. In the case that the eggs contains a life-form; it does have half of Yoshi's chromosomes.

Yoshi could be stuffing his bung full of eggs and that's where they come from for all we know.

Have you ever followed a Yoshi around, or even SEEN ONE?

    I rest my convoluted case.
