Too controlling or possessive?

    Hi guys,

My friend has faced a situation and would like to hear your views/opinions.

Suppose A is in a monogamous relationship with B. (A and B are gay people.)

B has a friend who is also gay.

If B watches pornography and masturbates together with the friend (nude),

    1. Is it wrong for B to watch pornography with the friend because B is in a relationship?

    2. Is it wrong for B to masturbate together with another person ( even though it is a friend )?

If A is informed about this,

    3. Is it right for A to feel that sexual activities should only be within the couple in the relationship?

    4. Is A being controlling or possessive if A wishes that B would not watch pornography and masturbate with another person?

    5. Is A being too backward or conservative for thinking so? Is A not of the relationship material?

Thanks. (My apologies if this post is confusing and silly)

    1. Yes it is wrong, if A and B have not discussed it or do not consider the relationship open.
    2. Yes for the same reasons as above.
    3. Sexual activities should only be within the couple in the relationship unless otherwise specified.
    4. Not at all, i would severely pissed if my partner was masturbating with a friend. Whether or not he has any feelings behind it or not, it would make me uncomfortable therefore hopefully it would be respected.
    5. A is not being backward, conservative or irrational. A's concerns are very valid ones and i am sure A is relationship material. It is more of B that may not be ready for a monogamous relationship

Depends where you draw the line for sexual/not sexual.

I would feel offended if my boyfriend do something like that especially if we decided to be in a monogamous relationship.

However maybe knowing other friend can change things if they are like long time friends... like childhood friends I probably be okay with it.

I am not possesive or controlling but have trust issues when it comes to relationship. On first situation even if I trust my partner I would not trust other persons motivations. When trust dies that relationship dies.

Even monogamous relationships require some discussions about boundaries. It depends on how both people feel about it. It isn't wrong, as such, but it would be wrong to hide it I think. I suspect, though, if A doesn't feel comfortable with it, and B feels strongly about continuing, then they might not be well suited to each other.

Masturbating with a friend is most certainly cheating in my book. It is unacceptable unless the person is in an open relationship.

It is clearly inappropriate behaviour to masturbate with a friend.

Whilst these two people did not have sex with each other, they shared an arousing experience and saw each others genitals.

'A' is very entitled to be angry and upset about this.

Wrong is a moral judgement in this case . I m o , its not cool. It sure wouldnt be cool in my situation. But it also begs the question( the answer for anyone but me ) why would a or b or whoever need to do this anyway ?

I agree that It's wrong, even though he may not be doing...sexual things with him. Kissing isn't a sexual act (to me anyway, otherwise why is it legal to do in public) but I'd still be angry if my partner did that.

In my book, monogamy means no sexual activities outside your relationship. If a relationship is monogamous, then it's a no no, if it's an open relationship where the partners both agree, then to each their own.

One of the simplest rules that applies here: If you have to keep it a secret, don't do it.

If you guys are monogamous then what this person is doing is not right. I would definitely define it as cheating

I don't think A is being controlling or possessive.

If it were me, I'd expect my partner (be it male or female) to be committed to me completely - emotionally as well as sexually, and that includes masturbation. I wouldn't be happy if he/she were to watch porn and masturbate with another person, friend or not. And I have a very conservative view of masturbation, I see it as something personal and private, and not something to share with other people. So yeah, for obvious reasons, I don't think A is being controlling or possessive at all  If he is, then so am I

I do think that any kind of sexual activity including masturbating with someone else when your already in a relationship is not right at all and A should feel very entitled to be upset and angry about it and ask for it to stop. That is crossing the line to me. I wouldn't do it with a friend even if I was single, so I certainly wouldn't do it if I was in a relationship.

    1. Is it wrong for B to watch pornography with the friend because B is in a relationship?

They're naked, how is that okay? Watching porn with a friend on itself isn't that bad, but being naked and/or masturbating with another person is wrong.

    2. Is it wrong for B to masturbate together with another person ( even though it is a friend )?

    Yes.

If A is informed about this,

    3. Is it right for A to feel that sexual activities should only be within the couple in the relationship?

    Completely

    4. Is A being controlling or possessive if A wishes that B would not watch pornography and masturbate with another person?

    Not at all

    5. Is A being too backward or conservative for thinking so?

    No

Is A not of the relationship material?

    If anything, B isn't. A is fine.
