So, I'm not sure how many of you know about the studies that show how male homosexuality works. The more older brothers a man has, the more likely chance he has of being gay.

Brief description: The womb sees the Y chromosome as a foreign substance and tries to get rid of it. It produces anti-bodies which in return, feminize the brain. It isn't strong in the first birth, which makes the chance of being gay only %2. But the chance increases by 1 third for every older brother. This does not apply to women.

I'm curious to see the statistics of male users on this forum, and I believe this would also apply to trans women as well, since the child was born with male anatomy.

No brothers--two sisters. But maybe being around so many females turned me gay

None by birth - I was my mom's first child, and my blood relation siblings are both female.

(Just dropping in to say that implying Trans women are male would probably trigger dysphoria. I'd hate to be called female.)

Damn, I picked the wrong option by accident!(I don't know if it can be fixed, but if it can someone can do it). I did altogether there, so it should be 3 instead.

Wow, am I the only one, posting so far, who has some? I have one younger brother through my mom, and found out at a later age that I had 3 older through my dad.

I've heard that whole 'the more brothers there are, the chance of the youngest being - g - gets slightly higher' thing and it's made me think quite a bit personally.

None, just one younger brother. Small sample size, but so far the results aren't supporting this theory very well. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

How is it not being supported?

It's not saying that you have to have older brothers to be lgbt, more so that the more older ones you have, the likeliness of you being so would be higher.

I know, but despite gender identity, I really was aiming for a specification on male birth. I don't consider trans women any less of women than born women. I just needed to avoid the confusion.

Not necessarily. It's not only a theory either, as it's supported scientifically.

I never said this was the only way that men are born gay. However, this is one way. I'll admit, that I am quite surprised by the results. Perhaps I have more to look into on other ways men are born gay. But for me, it was probably the way with older brothers.

Also, the fact that I included trans women and bi men may of swayed the results, as I assumed that transgendered and homosexuality work the same way, which they probably don't.

Fair point. I realize the theory doesn't suggest that you need to have older brothers to be gay, I just didn't think it would be this lopsided. I started to think this made sense if you consider how low the average fertility rate is (Google says 1.88 in the United States), but you can't draw any conclusions from that either I guess since it's at least possible that LGBT people tend to come from larger families.

In other words, I'm rambling and have no good point to make so disregard. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

^ I was wondering if it was the case with me, too. I found out that I had older brothers years beforehand, so after feeling that I wasn't what I grew up to think I was, you can bet it had me wondering often.

It's alright, I'm always rambling, too. I figured the end to your post was a little light-hearted, just wanted to clarify it I guess.

In other news, my accidental vote is still bugging me, heh. >.<
