The carpet-part is due to the look, a woman's vagina may have, when it has hair. The munch-part, well, that's a little more obvious, isn't it? Lol.

I, personally, don't mind the term. I think it's kind of dumb, to be honest, though. But, I can see how, it could be annoying or offensive.

I first heard this term, I think, on an episode of South Park. And amusingly enough, they were literally, licking/munching on a carpet, thinking along the same lines, as you once did.

Yeah that's how I learned about it, Cartmen said his mom told him he should lick carpet and he started licking the carpet .

I think its derived from the term "Does the carpet match the drapes" Which is a rather crass question for someone to ask but its asking if pubic hair color matches head hair color. Essentially asking if your hair is a "Dye job" :/

As far as the term goes, I've jokingly referred to myself as a carpet muncher to friends before, since it implies I am fond of a certain sexual act. I wouldn't really take offense to being called it either personally I'd just reply "Damn right I am!" :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I'm sure its different for everyone but that's just my feeling on the subject, I don't take offense to that term at all.

To those who have said they do find it offensive I'd like to ask what it is about the term that offends you? I'm not judging or asking because I don't understand. I'm just curious about your feelings!

Personally the term dyke offends me a hell of a lot more, its outright hate speech. :/ (Though at least if they call me that they recognize my status as a woman...Calling me tranny will get you killed.... :evil:slight_smile:

    1. I've heard of the term before. I think it's best used to describe a certain "fetish" with body hair.

    2. I've munched on carpets before.

    3. I've munched on smooth parquet before as well.

    4. I really feel that many of our members are offended much too easily.

It doesn't necessarily offend me, but I just don't feel it's an appropriate thing to say. My Aunty who is very supportive of the LGBT community btw always mentions lesbians needing a licker license or if they have one and that kind of not offends me but like I said.. I just don't think it's an appropriate term to use, but she is joking around when she says it and everyone knows she has two friends whom are women and are together so it's not serious, but I just think straight people are always so quick to make jokes about gay and lesbian sex. I think sex is sex wether it's straight sex or gay or lesbian sex, so why should there be different terms for gay and lesbians expressing their love and affection for each other.

I could see that, though I think it's worth noting it isn't really referring to the vagina so much as the general pubic region. At least that's my understanding. That may not make it any better but still! XD Thank you for answering!

Exactly, it does feel much like we are being made fun of because we like being intimate with someone of the same sex. They can't understand why we want to and I can understand that cause they are straight and don't have those same thoughts or feeling, but even if they are joking around, it does hurt and feels like we are being made fun of. :tantrum:

It is absolutely inappropriate! Certainly not something to be said in polite company. I think though you've made some excellent points here. I think there is an inequity here that may stem from the hetero-normative viewpoint that homosexuality is deviant or strange. Something that makes it harder to make jokes about straight peoples sexual proclivities simply because they are the "normal ones" It's disgustingly onesided really. :icon_sad:

I say there need to be more straight jokes to balance things out o.o Buuuut I'm not good at being mean so someone else will have to come up with something xD
