So, my Swedish best friend and I had quite the culture shock today while discussing food. I was shocked that he eats jam with meat and cereal, and he was shocked that I eat jam with bread, and that I've never put ketchup on spaghetti (or any other kind of pasta). So I agreed to try the spaghetti his way, and it's surprisingly not bad.

So I guess my random question is, what are some other interesting food combinations out there?

Nope, none... The thing with frozen food is that, no matter how much you try and mix them, add seasoning and... regardless of what you do, they always taste like shit. They can... taste somewhat good, if you actually do manage to cook them perfectly.

I need to find a boyfriend, who can cook for me... Else i'll die.

Once I dipped french fries in my lemonade. It was surprisingly nice. Apparently the salt and the lemon and the potato go well together...? I also eat peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, but that seems fairly common.

Eggs and maple syrup is surprisingly good. Also, maple bars with crumbled bacon. We have a donut place around here, Voodoo Doughnuts, that does it. They've also got one that's Fruit loops on a white frosted donut.

Although I'm now a vegetarian, my father loves to make cabbage-wrapped lamb with cream and jam. It's actually rather nice.

Watermelon and Salt. The salt will make the watermelon sweeter but I will only advice you to add just a PINCH.

People have frowned upon these combinations:

Bread + Peanut butter + Cheese (melted)
Pasta (fussili) + Spinach + Chili peppers + Feta cheese
Tomato soup + Onion soup + Chili peppers + Chives

    Moreover:

Pizza based on satey sauce, with curry spices and parts of meat balls made with 'kecap' (we call kecap manis what is probably kecap sedang)

Many things I eat have some "weird spices" people don't know.

    *edit*

Some of the things I'll never try again. XD

Bread with chocolate and cheese (melted)
Pancake with cinnamon and bananas (in the dough) and then using cheese on it
Tomato soup with wayyy to much Tabasco (as it makes it sour! Tabasco is not even that spicy :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: )
Chicken with cacao powder and different herbs.. That was no good. XD

    pasta with egg over it
pancakes with green salad and a bit of salt
pasta with lentil soup and a small quantity of sliced onions

You might look up a few standard recipes... there are recipes for students for example, with few ingredients... pasta with different sauces for example... or selfmade soup, and some bread...
using soup cubes, I'd go organic, imo it tastes better, and there usually are no flavour enhancers included...

I don't have anything to add but my father always says "If you like [x], and you like [y], then you'll probably like them together as well". He's wrong. Certain combinations are disgusting.

edit: garlic sauce makes everything better though.

Liquorice + Cheese and onion pizza = ..? Bleeh

It's not true at all. Chocolate and melted cheese are no good combination in my opinion. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'm not really into interesting food combinations because I eat simple Mediterranean food.

But about sweets, I adore fondant (very fondant) chocolate cream with abundant rum!
