I know I do. My anxiety sky rockets and I just can't wait for it to be over with.

I hate 'em, too. I just don't trust doctors ... Not to mention dentists. MY GREATEST FEAR.

Yes, I feel a little guilty because I think I'm wasting their time. I tend to focus on thinking about what I'll do when it's over, and that helps. I meet people with similar disorders and they seem to have it much worse than me. I keep up my appointments because I'm taking these medications and they need to monitor the effects. I might think I'd manage fine without their help, but that would be a mistake, judging by my past. Also, it's difficult to be scared of injections when you deal with them every several months. What scares me is the qustion 'AND WHEN DID THIS BEGIN' that psychotherapists repeat. Re-opening old mental wounds can make me cry a river.

It depends. Most of the time, it isn't a hatred, it's an annoyance.

A comedian, whose name I cannot remember, but I recall this piece of his routine, said:

"I hate going to the doctor. I'll go in for a simple check up, and come out that motherfucker with Diabetes."

Ugh, I absolutely hate them. And shots...ugh shots. I cannot stand them. I am quite terrified of needles actually. I also hate getting blood taken. And knowing that the virus is inside of the shot just freaks me the hell out.

God, yes! I am terrified of needles if I have to get a shot or something, but that rarely happens. But what I really hate is going to the gynocologist. It's just an uncomfortable situation. And the place I go to, you look up and there is a tropical scene on the ceiling... yeah, like that is gonna help me relax. Nope. lol

I don't think anyone really likes going to the doctor--it's just something you have to do sometimes.

I have a fear of needles, so whenever they are involved, you can bet I'm going to be nervous about going. Additionally, I'm squeamish around blood, so getting blood drawn is a big negative for me. And I'm not exactly comfortable being "handled" down there either -_-

I'm grateful after going to do the doctor's, but I'm always nervous going (being a hypochondriac doesn't help either!)

For me it isn't so much the needles, it's exactly somewhere along the lines of that quote. I fear that they will tell me something bad.

Depends. I feel very uncomfortable when going to some specialists, like the dentist, the gynecologist, and the cardiologist (in that order).
I'm ok with the rest as long as they don't mess around inserting cold stainless steel thingies or tubes, but I'm not afraid of needles, even if some inexperienced nurses have troubles finding my veins.

I used to hate getting shots, but I'm okay with them now. My doctor is really nice and has been our family doctor for over 17 years. So, I know that she's good and not some random weirdo.

This, pretty much. My fear of the doctor is related to my fear of dying, and being diagnosed with cancer or some terminal illness.

I had a blood test earlier this year. Getting blood drawn is no big deal for me, but was nervous that the results would be concerning. I'm also afraid that my doctor will misdiagnose me or not spot something concerning.

Yes definitely, due to two simple reasons:

    - I have trouble trusting people i don't know. Trusting someone to take care of me, just because it's his job.

    - I am quite afraid of physical pain, in contrast to how jaded i am about emotional trauma.

In the end, if a visit to the doctor is something that needs to happen, then i do my best to ignore my instincts and just "get it done".

This, so much. There is always this feeling of mistrust(not just for me but when I'm visiting someone else there). Many just seem more interested in stupid stuff than actually giving a crap about you.

Just hate going in general. If I end up going, everyone knows that I must be feeling miserable. My arm could be hanging off my shoulder by a piece of skin and I'd sooner rather tape it up myself.

No, I know my doctors personally, so I'm comfortable with them and trust them.

I don't know my dentist outside of the patient-practitioner relationship, but she's a lovely woman and never engages me in conversation while her implements are in my mouth, as my old dentist did.

Shots and needles never bothered me. I have to take depo for bad menstrual problems, so Ive become immune to needles and I don't think they hurt anymore (Unless It's in a finger...ugh)

It's more so dentists I don't like. I've had dental problems for years that haven't been fixed because the dentists are inept and waste my time instead of actually doing the work.

No, as long as the doctor seems competent. If not, then I become really alert for any things that might be mistakes. Or, it could be because I'm not intimidated by their knowledge, and many of them were impressed when I said I majored in biochemistry.

Me. I've developed a powerful resistance to members of the medical profession, due to three things: Bad experiences with gender doctors, a dislike of my medical history being in the hands of anyone but myself, and the fact that I tend to be in need when I go to them, and I don't like being in need.

My dentist is excellent, but she does sometimes try to talk to me when all the instruments are in my mouth--never sure how I'm supposed to respond :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
