LGBT kind of has a ring to it, right? But it's rather limited in its perspective; the queer community isn't just lesbians, bisexual people, gay people and transgendered people, is it? I've seen a whole variety of derivatives, like LGBTQIA, but let's face it, that's way too much of a mouthful. We need a new name. Thoughts?
My thoughts... All these names/labels/pronouns etc... are seriously confusing me. Why must we complicate matters even more? I mean, for whose benefit is all this? I don't care... Do you?
In defiance of heteronormativity, we could just call ourselves "people." But because that is not descriptive enough for a society that defaults to straight, I have used "GSM" despite the fact that it was conceived in an attempt to legitimize pedophilia. We all know that's not going to happen, and it's an effective acrostic.
No, LGBT doesn't have a ring to it. It's a completely random, difficult to say, unacceptable random assemblage of crap. The only reason we keep using this initialism is that the people who like it refuse to use a single English word to describe the community.
