Default Teacher.

That's what I want to be. I want to be an A-Level computing teacher. That would be amazing.

So when I get my degree, I'm going to go for a PGCE, and then see if I can get a job. In theory, I could successfully be qualified as a computing teacher at the age of 21.

What do you guys think?

I want to be a high school English/French teacher.

So I think you should do it. And then I'll become an English/French teacher. And we'll talk about teaching strategies (homework, lectures, capital punishment...).

I think it's a great idea. I wanted to be a teacher, but I quickly realized that while I learn pretty quick, I completely suck at explaining even the simplest of things. Teaching is an excellent profession and good teachers aren't rewarded nearly enough.

This is probably a bit philosophical, xD, but I would like to be a teacher REGARDLESS of my profession. I feel like everyone has something to teach somebody, you know?

Idk. It's just been something I've been thinking about it. I want to be a museum curator, fyi. xD.

I'm planning to be a teacher too, but at primary school level - I'm a nerd, and high school students would rip me to pieces. I can handle the little ones. Good luck!

Oh, I would want to teach regardless of what I do. But then again, that's all the better reason to become a teacher for me. People in museums are teachers in their own way anyways... they teach hundreds of students every day, with all ages possible, from someone's dear old granny to someone's little terror of a kid. And you'd have to keep them all interested. It would be challenging...

That sounds like fun! I suck at musical theory, but I'm amazing at computing theory. Basically, I'm good at the theoretical side of logical subjects and only the practical side of some creative ones. Good luck!

Ah, I'm a nerd too, but a nerd teaching computing kinda works. 'sides, for a nerd, I'm fairly interesting to talk to, which helps. ;]

I'd love to teach English too. I'm brilliant at it as well as computing, I think my general language skills are excellent. Hm, maybe I'll work at qualifications there sometime...

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement, and good luck to everyone else going for teaching. =] Teachers rock.

Odd that I saw this actually, I'm finishing my CS degree in May - and am contemplating applying to PGCE Maths (I did 3/4 of a maths degree before switching to CS) and becoming a secondary school maths teacher in the UK, possibly with Computing/ICT as a backup subject. I've tutored Junior and Leaving Cert students for years in maths and science and I'm apparently pretty good at it!

I'm not sure though...you have to come up with so many creative teaching strategies...XD
If I was a teacher, I'd be a drama and/or history teacher.
Maybe I could be a university professor...^.^

Wow, that's cool. Thing is, I could teach maths too; Maths, computing and English are my total strong points. I'm awesome at them. I might ask some people about it, see whose advice I could get about it all. Like, old teachers and stuff.

Thing about being a university professor is that you don't really need official teaching qualifications so much; at my university, students who wanna be teachers just do their degree, then a masters, then a doctorate, and while they're doing their masters and doctorate, they'll become assistant tutors and eventually lecturers.

I don't think I could become a teacher with just my degree though. And I'm not sure a masters and doctorate would be for me...

Creative teaching strategies develop themselves, m'dear. You teach, and you suddenly get a flash of inspiration as for what'd make a good lesson. It happened to me when I was in America a few times, and made my lessons more interesting.

Go for the teacher thing. The world needs more young teachers, so all the teenagers have something to look at while they ignore the fact that they're actually supposed to learn something.

As for me, I'd like to teach music. And perhaps philosophy or religion.
