I think the actresses comments were particularly poignant: "Because laws have change and times have changed and a lot of things are better, people forget how many young people and old people (but particularly young people) find themselves alone after they come out." Thats one of the issues I fear the likes of the Trevor Project/It Gets Better kind of side-steps. Things do not necessarily get miraculously better after a person comes out - some things might, other things might not. I think in cases where a person previously "passed" as straight prior to coming out they might notice things either stay the same or get worse post coming out (as other people's notions of sexuality and their own sexual identity can be "challenged" which they may react badly too).
