Tim Heidecker stabbed by a maniac, then is saved by the big guys at a gay bar...

Tim Heidecker, half of the comedy duo Tim & Eric, of Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job and Tom Goes to the Mayor fame, recalls a story from a few years ago where he was chased by his neighbor lady's son who was OD'ing on PCP and going nuts, and he ran through LA after getting stabbed by this psycho and eventually into a gay bar called Akbar where as he puts it "several larger guys, I think they called themselves 'bears,'" tackled the fiend and threw the knife away!

It's an interesting story, he tells it in a funny manner, ("Oh my God, I'm gonna die in a gay bar." lol) but it's probably the most sincere I've ever heard him as he and Eric usually delve into "anti-humor" in a weird way. He's a peculiar fellow, but I've always found the humor he and Eric produce to be profoundly funny.

He's an excellent story teller and a very funny man, as is his friend, Eric. I've always thought they were secretly in love with each other considering the delightfully homoerotic content of their sketches and how well they usually portray the gay community but Eric is married to a female porn star and Tim has a wife of several years, now-- though I could be wrong. I particularly like the "Tang's Donuts" part of the story.

 

Maybe they already are-- maybe they're just treating their relationship the way Tim Curry treats his sexuality-- with a mischievous wink that says "No, I'm not gay... or am I?"

But yeah, Awesome Show was awesome, but my favorite remains Tom Goes to the Mayor, I really wish they'd do a third season of that!

 

Their brand of comedy is a bit... esoteric. I think the reason it's funny is because they're the only ones who are really in on the joke-- it's a joke that's funny to everybody, but only understood by two people in the entire universe.

As for them in the bear community, yeah, I could definitely see them as great ambassadors and spokesmen for it, considering I'm a "bear" as well.
