So. What are your favourite foods, traditional or otherwise, at this time of year?

My Slavic food. If I've got my boršč and koláči then I'm good to go.

My family always does a big Italian feast for Christmas dinner. Usually it's antipasto, pasta, salad, main course, dessert, and then tea/coffee/ouzo/cognac. A lot of wine. The main course is different every year. This is a big deal in my family, my cousins and uncle work on Christmas dinner literally starting in August. And Christmas baking! My Nana makes these coconut doughballs with a maraschino cherry inside, 90% will be red cherries, the rest are green and we always try to get the green ones!

We make ham with potatoes, a whole bunch of pies, and such. Including a Suet Pudding/Christmas Pudding that my Dad makes.

We make food ourselves. It could be a cake, pie, a pastry, anything. And we don't really follow traditional recipes, so.. :icon_bigg

I'm not a fan of most Christmas food being vegetarian. And even though I'm not religious I celebrate Hanukkah with friends every year. So matzo ball soup is a favorite of mine.

Usually ham, potatoes and numerous pies. This year, since it'll be just my partner and I with the house to ourselves, we're doing roasted Cornish game hens.

I haven't really thought about what i'd be eating for Christmas... Maybe a pizza, or steak, and spaghetti. Since, why not... It's not like food is all that important, it's who you eat it with, that matters. That being said, i'm planning on eating alone, in my room.

My sister is such a film geek she wants to go out for Chinese for Christmas Dinner. Grandma is committing the foul sin of cooking turkey for Christmas, and I don't get near enough good Chinese food, so I'm joining my sister.

Here's how you fix your turkey. Don't ever stuff it. Stuffing "kills" turkeys, just dries it out. Instead, stuff that turkey's cavity full of fucking vegetables. And then, butter and herb that bitch, under and on the skin. You flash cook it for about an hour and then lower the heat to finish.

Bam, moist flavorful turkey with turkey fat infused veg that's perfect for making gravy.

My family's Christmas dinners are very traditional - turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, ham, veggies, rolls, pumpkin pie or trifle as dessert, all whilst wearing tissue paper crowns from Christmas crackers lol.
