Kaiser's eye-opening thread inspired this. I was surprised that some EC members don't think much of themselves. I've absorbed tons of information from this website and you should give yourself a pat on the back, if you've posted a fair bit.

I figured other people might want to try this:

    What is Your Self-Esteem Level?

I knew it wasn't abysmal, but I also know my self-esteem isn't high.
I got 64, which reminded me of the video games console. I mostly agree with it. I think my self-esteem usually tends to hover around 55 - 60%. For the record, in high school, I probably would've only scored half of that. Yeah, kind of a weird way to gauge self-esteem, but, it's helped me to reach some conclusions. These questions really made me think and count my blessings.

It's important to think highly enough of yourself to stay motivated, but beyond that, self-esteem does not have much value. You should be proud of yourself for your actions, not proud of yourself in order to do actions.

    Self-Esteem Inventory
    Your Score is 36 Percent

This inventory has statements built into it to detect how honest your responses are. Is it possible that in your effort to appear to have a high self-esteem level you did not anwser all the questions acurrately? If so you might want to take the assessment again to get a more realistic picture of your self-esteem level.

Indications are you are comfortable enough with who you are to not hold yourself back from having a happy life.

You are certainly aware you are not perfect and you have moments of self-doubt. At times you might even chide yourself, and be overly sensitive to the criticisms of others. However, none of the above makes you distance yourself from others for long, or stop moving toward your goals. While you may not be comfortable in certain social situations, they do not intimidate you to the point of fleeing. Nor are you so riddled with self-doubt that you are rarely able to speak your mind, or defend your position on a particular issue.

Fortunately, like most of us your sense of self-worth does not allow you to make a habit of devaluing yourself unrealistically. You do not forget to pat yourself on the back for a job well done. In relationships you do not habitually play the role of tyrant or lamb. Overall you are well balanced and adjusted.

    86. I have this problem with tests like that. I attempt to interpret the questions, rather than answering them.

I got 56. I didn't think too much when answering though, so I don't know how accurate it is.

    20.........

I've been a in drepession lately, all because I hate myself. Right now, all I can think about is how much I dislike myself. Internally and externally. Its getting to a point where, I want to see a specialist. :'( I want to feel wanted.....

This is exactly how I feel.
"It appears that you have a very low self-esteem level. Low self-esteem points to a number of behaviors you may want to shed. Generally people at this level tend to be uncomfortable in many social situations. They are more likely to suffer from depression and display irritation and aggression. Insomnia and other psychosomatic illnesses also occur more often in the low self-esteem population. They may find it difficult to maintain stable relationships with others as well. Inferiority complexes are frequently thought of as manifestations of very low self-esteem."

    86. Well I answered spontaneous and I think I took the answeres that match me the most.
I get from this test that I definitely know who I am. For self-esteem I haven't expected 86 - thought it would be somewhere in a good middle. But I'm fine with the result.

    48. Pretty accurate number, I'd say. Would have been lower at certain points in my life. I don't have extremely high self esteem, but neither do I have extremely low self esteem. There is always room for me to work on having higher self esteem, I believe. I am a work in progress.

    Self-Esteem Inventory
    Your Score is 78 Percent

This inventory has statements built into it to detect how honest your responses are. Is it possible that in your effort to appear to have a high self-esteem level you did not answer all the questions accurately? If so you might want to take the assessment again to get a more realistic picture of your self-esteem level.

Indications are you are very comfortable with who you are. Indeed your self-esteem level is so high you usually exude confidence in yourself. However, there appear to be two types of people who score this high on the self-esteem inventory: those who are truly happy with themselves, and those who cover their shortcomings by refusing to accept their existence.

People who appear to have unlimited confidence are sometimes hiding their frailties and self-doubt behind a wall of arrogance. They are very critical of others and always eager to show everyone just how perfect they are. Indeed, they will go to almost any length to appear perfect, and have no tolerance for appearing as anything less than perfect.

People with genuinely high self-esteem are quite different. They are aware they are not perfect, but feel so good about themselves that they rarely dwell on their frailties. They accept themselves as they are, which makes them feel good about themselves. Just as important, they accept others as they are, which makes those around them feel good about themselves. Those with high self-esteem have the ability to bring out the very best in themselves. Often they give those around them the gift of bringing the very best out in them as well.

    Interesting...

    12. Welp.

I can't even say this is inaccurate. This survey thing was actually pretty neat to take --very interesting questions. I honestly thought I would've scored higher. Filling out all the questions and feeling disappointed in my results were worth it though to stumble across this gem in the feedback:

This is actually fairly accurate. I accept myself as I am, I know I do the best I can and try to look the way I want to. Sure, it's not perfect, but I'm happy about it. Perfect is impossible anyway.

Apart from talk of arrogance this is quite accurate. I feel comfortable with myself and am accepting of others(I believe so anyway...).
