Hello guys What is the difference between being religious and being spiritual? I have seen some profiles stating "spiritual but not religious". Do they have a link?
I believe the difference is that "spiritual" people don't follow the dogma of religion while still believing there's more to life than the material world.
I believe they are linked in a few ways. This should help: Spiritual but not religious - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My take on it is, like me they believe in God or in higher power in life but doesn't follow any organized religions because of the reasons of their own... like me believing all of them tainted by "men" as they are so androcentristic. Just think and point me a woman, black or asian prophet. Tell me which religion says male and women are equal and prove it by evidence. All current Abrahamic religions for just tools created to control masses.
Usually, people of faith/organized religious follow some set of orthodoxies/creeds/ethos. This is not to say they don't agree with all of their faith's teachings, but they adhere to the basic tenets. Those who are spiritual follow their own set of rules.
Religion is generally formed by there being a group of followers, formal teachings (be they written or oral tradition), cultural traditions and rituals of some sort. One's own attitude towards a deity is not necessarily codified and can exist independently.
