I had this sort of "panel" at my school today and some people came to talk to us. There are a few reasons why my gaydar was ringing:

    1. He studies in the U of Chicago, which is quite gay-friendly,
    2. The way he spoke, he kinda sounded like me, or other gay people I know/listen to,
    3. Hand gestures, a bit more than the average straight guy, and he's not Italian
    4. He just seems GAY!

I asked my friends about this and I told them that I think there's a 90% probability that he is... but they said it was between 30-50%. I'm like so sure he is gay that my gaydar's flashing a red light! I mean, it's not like it's relevant to me since I won't (likely) be seeing him again...

I dunno, opinions? Do you trust your gaydar?

It's not great but it's not horrible.

Mmm. Would I trust an esoteric, unverifiable, hypothetical construct whose "results" may or may not be highly influenced by the subjectiveness of my perception and that is not guaranteed to be right most of the time even if we were to assume it's real?

    I don't think so, no.

The thing with "gaydars" is that they don't exactly work, when the person is influenced by emotions. This is usually misconceived as having a weak gaydar or a strong gaydar when in fact it depends on the perception of each individual and their emotional state. I won't go into boring details as to why this is, but would strongly suggest that you treat this case as a 50/50 scenario. Best way to know for sure is to simply walk to them and ask.

I trust mine. So far, it hasn't failed me. Well, to those that I got answers. Yes, we sometimes let our judgement be based on stereotypes, but if it rings, it's for some reason.

I've had my gaydar ring on guys that don't look gay, but most of the time it's because of their eyes. Just follow their eyes and you'll notice what they stare at.

The hotter I think the person is, the less accurate my gaydar is. Wishful thinking gets in the way of things.

Mine gets it right around 80% of the time.

Oh yes. If it's someone I'm not interested in, it almost always works. If it's someone I do have an interest, on the other hand...

That's generally my luck. And that's generally thetype of girls I find myself attracted to. And my not being out, they see a guy when they look at me. :frowning2:

Increasingly, little by little I've been gaining more accuracy, but there's still room for improvement haha

I must have been at th back of the queue when gaydars were being given out. My mother on the other hand has freakishly accurate gaydar for gay men, like she can look at a man on television for a few seconds and know he's gay, even if it's not obvious, then later be proven right. Not sure how she does it.

I was walking past this random guy in the local supermarket, and as our eyes met for an instant, he kind of slapped his packet of chips down onto his other hand, and I gave him this tiny little smile...hehe. That's as far as I go with these things though. But yeah there's something about how a guy looks at you...
