| Guest Posts: n/a | The other day in class my English teacher was talking about this documentary she saw on tv and some guy was interviewing another guy and he asked him, why do you always use the label Jew?? Everything I hear is Jews this, Jews that, and the man replied, well if I take away that label and don't call him a Jew then he is just a man like me and then how can I hate him? It got me thinking, this kind of applies to gay people too, if people stopped labeling us as just gay and looked beyond that then maybe some people would realise we are no different from them and some people might not be so against gays. I'm not sure of the point in posting this since I'm sure most people here know this but I felt like I should so.......... lol who knows!! |

But the sad truth is they're here to stay, and many people never look past their prejudices. Whatcha gonna do?

You know who you are so you aren’t going to give yourself false labels, but you can still describe yourself and identify as a certain ‘type’ of person. The problem is, people label others and they are often false but people never get past that.

Face it - we all need labels. Otherwise we wouldn't know that the cute guy in Timmy's P.E. class is a jock gay powerbottom. XD |

For example, I wouldn't be very surprised if every single one of us here were racist in some small way at least. I admit it. As horrible as it may sound, I am, to a certain extent, racist. Of course, this doesn't mean that I don't know that I'm wrong. I know that being racist is wrong, and I know that everybody has the capacity for goodwill. I've thought about it before, and I came to the conclusion that we as human beings need things to hate or at least feel some slight despise towards, otherwise we wouldn't be human. It's depressing I know, but I think that that's just how we are. On a lighter note, even though I'm "racist", whenever I meet people of that race I'm slightly racist towards, and if they're nice, I can really appreciate them for who they are. And I won't treat them any differently.
