    1. After telling myself that I should for most of the last four years, I started counseling in the fall.

    2. Wasted most of it. Went to my girlfriend's house for the first time and had her over to mine.

    3. My relationship with my girlfriend is still going strong. We celebrated our one-year anniversary.

    4. Ferguson

    5. "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift

    6. Keith Urban

    7. I stuck to some of them. "Read 100 books" is my goal every year and is always a failure. I also make a resolution to try five new things every year and I'm pretty sure I hit that a while back.

    8. 4.0 GPA both semesters at college

    9. Taylor Swift. She's really started to turn things around.

    10. It's okay to ask for help when you need it.

    11. Falling in love with a girl for the first time is pretty life-changing.

    12. Kissed a girl.

    13. No

    14. A country music festival with my two best friends

    15. Not applying to grad schools earlier to make sure that everything was in on time instead of waiting and ending up praying letters will make it on time even though they were already late

    16. My friends, my girlfriend, the fact that I'm graduating in six months

    17. Christmas Eve I spent with my family. Christmas Day was at my mom's house and I just chilled out with Netflix all day. My plans for New Year's Eve consist of an NHL hockey game followed by watching the ball drop.

    18. As always: do five things that I've never done before. I hope that I'll handle stress better, that I'll be able to move out of the house and be financially independent, that with the new independence I'll be able to come out to my family.

    19. About a 7. The first half of the year wasn't the best but the second half was pretty great.

    20. I hope so

    1. What was the biggest change in your life this year?

At the beginning of the year, I started college (not in the American sense) and moved to a different school. On top of that, my friendships have almost completely changed. I met some of my best friends this year and I've become really close to them, closer than almost all of my previous friendships, for various reasons.

    2. What did you do over the summer?

    Inconsiderate, Northern Hemisphere twit.

    :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    3. How were relationships with boyfriends/girlfriends?

My first boyfriend was a bit of a dick and he dumped me pretty quickly. Funnily enough, after two days of anger and disappointment, I realised I didn't really care. My second boyfriend was a better relationship, but we got together at a pretty bad time and decided to call it off. We're friends now.

    4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2014?

Russia's invasion of the Crimea and then Eastern Ukraine or the rise of IS to international prominence. The fall in the value of oil is also probably going to come back to be pretty memorable, even if its immediate effects have been relatively small so far, at least in impacting my life in any way.

    5. Favourite song from the year?

I can't really chose a favourite. But Anaconda will probably not leave my memory.

    6. Favourite artist this year?

I can't really pick a favourite from this year. The only new group I got into this year was Foster the People.

    7. Did you make any new years resolutions and if so, did you stick to them?

I didn't make any last year.

    8. What are you most proud of personally this year (i.e.- something you have done)?

My academic year and the estimates for final grades I got. In a two year process, it's pretty good to know that you've managed the first well, especially when the second is usually the best year.

    9. Who are you most proud of (can be a famous or non- famous person)?

One of my best friends. Her personality has developed a lot over the year - she knows who she is and what she wants, which has been a lot better than her more uncertain self from last year. I'm really proud of her; she knows what image she wants to present to the world and she's developed her understanding of her sexuality, friendships and what she actually has interest in.

    10. Did you have to learn any hard life lessons in the past 12 months?

Yes, but the odd thing is that they didn't feel very hard. They would have broken me in 2013, I think. Now I can brush them off my shoulder and use them as learning experiences.

    11. Have you had any life-changing experiences in 2014?

Yes. I now know what true sleep deprivation is.

I've also noticed that I've grown so much more used to my sexuality. I no longer have odd thoughts of the idea of being gay - it's just permanent knowledge and I don't really give it a second thought. I also stopped characterising emotions and sexual feeling as gay feelings; they're just what they are in my mind now. It's not really a single experience, just a change of how I perceive experiences. It's not the biggest thing, but it is really welcome. I didn't even think about it until ten minutes after finishing the rest of this post.

    12. Did you do anything you never thought you would do?

Not up for public discussion.

    13. Did you gain any new qualifications?

    None worth noting.

    14. What is your happiest memory from the year?

Either getting my end of year interview with my school or the early morning conversation I had with one of my closest friends that really made me feel close to someone with no ulterior motive from my side or hers.

    15. What was your most stupid incident?

Either breaking my toe or another (innocent, but sexual) incident I don't really want to put right here.

    16. What things do you appreciate most in your life at the moment?

Rest, music, leisure reading, my friends and my dogs. Just being relaxed and close to people and doing things I like really is a good way to end the year.

    17. What are/were your plans for xmas/ new year?

I had a quiet Christmas, but I'm going down to the coast with my friend for most of a week for the new year.

    18. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2015? What do you hope will be different?

I've planned out a general outline of 2015 with goals and how I think it's necessary to get to them, most of them decided by the fact that I know how my school year will play out. I try to have flexibility in decisions like that, and I'm not really sure if it amounts to a new year's resolution.

I just hope I can learn from some mistakes and really get my organisation to be perfect. I'm pretty punctual with deadlines and even loose expectations, but I want to be immaculately prepared for everything that comes my way.

    19. How do you rate 2014 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best)?

8/10. It was a pretty good year, but there are some things I want to work on yet. It feels more like it's propping up next year than an accomplishment in its own right.

    20. Will you still be on EC this time next year?

I think so. But I'll be questioning whether I want to leave EC around this time next year or stay on. I'm definitely not going to be spending as much time next year on here as I have this year.

    1. What was the biggest change in your life this year?
    Moving from Australia to Scotland

    2. What did you do over the summer?
Mostly worked, but did a bit of travel too - visited Geneva, Honolulu and Amsterdam.

    3. How were relationships with boyfriends/girlfriends?
I broke up with my ex of 2.5 years (he was also my first boyfriend) on the night of my 21st birthday. That really shook me up a lot, but it acted as the catalyst for deciding to finally move to the UK. The fact that I broke up with him on my 21st birthday as well as a few unrelated events on previous birthdays now means that I'm not in the mood to celebrate my birthday in the future.

    4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2014?
The Scottish independence referendum. Being in Glasgow in the buildup to the referendum, I was surrounded by it every day. You still see the occasional person on the street wearing a 'Yes' or 'No' badge...

    5. Favourite song from the year?
Vision - an Ashley Wallbridge song. An amazing piece of trance music.

    6. Favourite artist this year?
The Presets. They've been one of my favourite bands for years so being able to see them live again at a music festival on my last weekend in Australia was pretty damn amazing.

    7. Did you make any new years resolutions and if so, did you stick to them?
One was to get fitter - I did not stick to that one.
The other was to travel (especially by plane) more. I definitely stuck to that one - I've flown over 100,000km (across about 50 flights) for the first time in one year in 2014. It's something that I love doing and I plan to do so much travel as possible in 2015 as well.

    8. What are you most proud of personally this year (i.e.- something you have done)?
Moving to the UK. I'm someone who doesn't really like personal change, so moving was a huge thing - especially seeing I moved 10,000 miles away from home. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster journey and I'm still settling in/accepting/embracing being so far from my hometown.

    9. Who are you most proud of (can be a famous or non- famous person)?
I can't think of anyone at the moment.

    10. Did you have to learn any hard life lessons in the past 12 months?
Moving away from Australia meant moving out of home for the first time, so it's been an interesting time figuring out the extra responsibilities I now have. On a more personal level, I've been focussing more on getting to know myself and my personal identity, but it is still a work in progress at the moment. It is fascinating doing this, but it sure is damn tricky!

    11. Have you had any life-changing experiences in 2014?
Bit of a recurring thing on this list, but moving to the UK has been an experience that has definitely changed me. I'm not sure if it's for the better or for the worse, or a little bit of both.

    12. Did you do anything you never thought you would do?
I went skydiving. It's something that had interested me for a while, but I never thought I would actually end up doing it. On my crazy weekend trip to Hawaii in September I wanted to do one REALLY memorable thing - so I bit the bullet and booked a 14,000ft skydive. Suffice to say, it was AMAZING!!!

    13. Did you gain any new qualifications?
    No.

    14. What is your happiest memory from the year?
Probably my Hawaii trip because it was insanely impulsive. Going to the other side of the world for a weekend really gave me a rush (that I shall be replicating in just over a week!).

    15. What was your most stupid incident?
It's kind of an ongoing thing - delaying going to the GP to see if I've got a mental disorder (it is possible that I could have BPD). I know that there is something not quite right, but I'm not sure what it is. Whatever it is, it's affecting my life quite substantially, but I can't do anything about it until I get some sort of diagnosis.

    16. What things do you appreciate most in your life at the moment?
I'm not really sure. I wish I knew though...

    17. What are/were your plans for xmas/ new year?
I didn't have any plans really for Xmas which didn't bother me as I don't like Christmas. I was gonna go to my flatmates' friend's place with them but I got violently sick early on the 25th. All day was basically spent with my head over the toilet bowl waiting for the inevitable throw up. After a long sleep from 3am this morning, I'm feeling a wee bit better.

I'm working New Year's Eve, but have the 1st off (my work is closed that day). On the 3rd I jet off to Hawaii for 1 night as a wee early birthday present for myself - I just couldn't resist the £850 sale fare as it will enable me to take 5 more Europe trips with the miles earned. Arrive on Sunday at 2:30pm then leave on Monday at 11:15pm. Decided to splurge and stay at a beachfront hotel on Waikiki beach as my plan is to booze it up the first night there, then just lay by the pool/beach hungover all of the next day until heading out to the airport. I've got a 9 hour overnight transit in New York on the way there, so will hope to get in to Manhattan for a few hours to have a look around.

    18. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2015? What do you hope will be different?
To keep travelling as much as possible, with an emphasis on exploring Scotland more.
To find out more about myself (ESPECIALLY my emotions and how they work).

    19. How do you rate 2014 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best)?
This year has been very traumatic at times, but there have been some extremely amazing times as well. I did something that I had wanted to do for years so this year has been a success overall. On the whole I would probably give this year a 8/10.

    20. Will you still be on EC this time next year?
    I'd say so.

    1. What was the biggest change in your life this year?
Quitting smoking was very big... If someone ever told me I would do this willingly I would call them mad.

    2. What did you do over the summer?
It was a nice summer. After years of not having a vacation, with little... okay very big push I forced to take one.

    3. How were relationships with boyfriends/girlfriends?
N/A... hopefully it will stay this way in years to come

    4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2014?
Many horrible things that made me ashamed I call myself human, muslim and turk. Sometimes I had to ignore anything related to news to feel better.

    5. Favourite song from the year?
Most songs from Unrepentant Geraldines by Tori. General vibe of the album is about aging which I can strongly relate. Also I think like many of her lyrics those will haunt me forever...

    "will you follow
if you love him you will follow
    will you follow
if you love him you will follow
if you love him will you follow
    him even to
    his forest of glass"

The things we do in the name of love to only get hurt badly...

    6. Favourite artist this year?

Okay here I am a bit loss. What kind of artist? David Nakayama is my favorite comic book artist of the year. Indila one of new voices I discovered this year. Aenaluck was the Deviantart artists I find and fell in love with.

    7. Did you make any new years resolutions and if so, did you stick to them?

Not a new years solutions but while quitting smoking I decided to let my optimistic part lead my life most often.

    8. What are you most proud of personally this year (i.e.- something you have done)?
Quitting smoking and sticking with my above mentioned resolution. Also gathering my thoughts more successfully makes me feel a step closer to my goal.

    9. Who are you most proud of (can be a famous or non- famous person)?
My best friends(whom I also see as my own) nephew entered veterinary university. That was my childhood dream.

    10. Did you have to learn any hard life lessons in the past 12 months?
    I hope so...

    11. Have you had any life-changing experiences in 2014?
Being more positive. That alone took me away from depressive aura I had around me.

    12. Did you do anything you never thought you would do?
Yep... Quitting smoking again. People still find it hard to believe I quit... I was smoking 2,5- 3 packages a day.

    13. Did you gain any new qualifications?
Heh does a few more pounds count? That makes me qualify as fat I guess...

    14. What is your happiest memory from the year?

Hmm do I have to? No I don't...

    16. What things do you appreciate most in your life at the moment?
    My mother...
after nearly 6 months of worrying we finally learned her uterine cancer possibility ain't that high and don't need operation. More like worries are delayed but still count your blessings.

And cats... Those things give me more comfort then any people could give. For one they don't mind how do I look, who I chose to love and what I chose to believe.

    17. What are/were your plans for xmas/ new year?
Same old. Drinking a bit of wine, eating some nice food, watching several movies.

    18. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2015? What do you hope will be different?
Yeah my plan was starting getting in shape after I don't carve for ciggies. Carvings nearly halted. Also trying get my hand back in shape. More drawings and hopefully put somethings in of my best friend so we can debate about my comic story/characters.

    19. How do you rate 2014 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best)?
It can be 7-8 but I pick 6 on poll for being modest and not hexing good things.

    20. Will you still be on EC this time next year?
That is something only time can tell. We will wait and see.

    1. My longtime partner, Dan, passed away of a sudden illness. I was with him for four years. I'm only 24 and widowed.

    2. Not much really.Nothing exciting.

    3. Not good.... but I have found someone that I might like to spend my life with again. Only time will tell...

    4. None really. I don't follow the news a lot.

    5. Don't really have one

    6. Don't really have one.

    7. Nope.

    8. I bounced back from a situation that would have knocked most people on their ass and made them give up on life.

    9. No one really.

    10. Yes, there are no certainties in life and the world and fate do not owe you anything.

    11. Having to stand on my own two feet again.

    12. Date again. But here I am again.

    13. I graduated with my BA in Applied Communications

    14. This is really hard... I honestly can't think of one, which is not to say that there weren't any.

    15. I said something stupid. One of my friends said, "did you have sex?" and I said, "No! Andrew does not put out on the first date, he puts in." It sounded very dirty.

    16. How hard I've worked for everything that I have. Nothing was given to me so everything that I have was earned.

    17. Hopefully I will be able to hang out with some friends and toast to the New Year!

    18. Not really. I plan to stay the course.

    19. 3. Dealt with a lot, but I'm doing better now.

    20. Not sure. I used EC as a tool to help come back out as a gay man and vent. I've vented and feel comfortable again so we'll see. I have made a few friends here.

    1. What was the biggest change in your life this year?
I would have to say that the biggest change in my life was definitely thinking about my existence and finally deciding that I am a Secular Humanist and an Agnostic Atheist.

Spent the entire year a single pringle.

Oh, let's see. Ferguson, Bill Cosby, Russia waging war with Ukraine, IS becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Middle East, the Israel/Palestine Conflict heating up again, the Republican surge in the 2014 midterms that may mean disaster, the many LGBTQ rights wins in the US. That's about it.

    8. What are you most proud of personally this year (i.e.- something you have done)?
    Becoming a more sociable person.

I'd say Michael Sam for having the courage to come out in a work environment that is known to be homophobic.

    10. Did you have to learn any hard life lessons in the past 12 months?
Sometimes doing the right thing means putting so called friendships in jeopardy.

    11. Have you had any life-changing experiences in 2014?
The four days at college camp, I'd say.

    12. Did you do anything you never thought you would do?
I job shadowed a person who worked at the Missouri State Senate and got to watch debate on the Senate Floor. It was breathtaking.

    My health, family, and friends.

    17. What are/were your plans for xmas/ new year?
    Hang out with family/friends.

    18. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2015? What do you hope will be different?
Again, don't really do resolutions. So boring :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    19. How do you rate 2014 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best)?
