So why is it seen as a joke , or seen as non existent .
Why are we sometimes told men have to show us what we like or our sexuality is centered around them .

Because misogyny, that's why. Women are often seen as human sex objects for men, and if a woman has sexual desire, it's considered slutty or improper to have said desire. Sex is still seen as something that only the man should enjoy, unfortunately.

Your comment here reminds me of when I came out to a male friend of mine and he said I was lesbian because I'm a prude and didn't do anything to sexually please men . When he found out that I had sex with a man in the past he then called me a slut that needs to learn to stop hopping into bed with men .
    Go figure

Misogyny, yes, and I think the stereotypes that indicate females are more loving and open than men contribute.

It's not just sex, a lot of things done by women are still seen by some as less important than if it's done by men.

I agree. I also notice that some people assume that all women are fluid and bisexual and no men are. That is not true. Fluid and bisexual men exist as well.

This. Past, present, or future many men will feel like they're the superiority like it's a given right, when really.... like fuck it is.

Because the way the vast majority of society sees sexuality is ilogical and borderline dark age-ish

Okay, I have a question then - what's with the ladies dressing like they just walked out of a lingerie store? Is that misogyny at work, because it pleases men?

See, I was actually going to say that male sexuality would be the "joke" - only because men are told to not have feelings and to just "man up."

    I don't think that.

I just think that a woman's sexuality is very different. Up through college or so, I thought women approached sex the same way as guys do. They don't. They have a lot more at stake and the whole process is way more emotional than it is for most men. In hetero terms, one of my (gay) friends surprisingly said, "Women pick and choose who they want to make their eggs available to." It made perfect sense to me when I thought about it. It's a big part of the mating ritual. Again, in hetero terms, just as a baseline, men will have sex with whom they find sexually attractive for the most part and there usually isn't much more to it than that.

So, whether gay, bi, or straight, I have the perception that MOST women enjoy the physical act of sex for sex's sake from slightly less to a lot less than MOST men. However, the notion that their sexuality is a joke doesn't make sense to me. It's just DIFFERENT.

Because it's apparently more difficult to sexually please women, so it's easy for idiots to make the assumption that women just don't want it enough and spread word of it so much that people believe it's an actual thing. Also, successful sex is seen mostly for when men orgasm and not usually women, unless it's between lesbians; porn is a huge example.

It's all really misogynistic if you ask me.

Sadly, it's a part of our culture that has been around for quite some time, needs changing, and is undergoing change. I know that the people I associate with do not feel that way.

I disagree. During Freud's time or in Kinsey's: sure. Female sexuality was ignored or put in the background back then...but these days i notice how most studies are related mostly or solely to female sexuality. Especially given the fact how scientists "discovered" in 2011 that male bisexuality exists - consider all the studies in the 2000s related to female bisexuality and compare them to the male ones, obviously the balance will favour the female-centered studies.

That disgusts me. I hate men like that.. I got into a fight with one when I was 9. I beat that wanker up too.. Pushed him through a fence. True story.

I know he was a misogynist because even though he was only 12 I hated how he spoke about girls and I've even grown up now and still know the sick fuck. He's still the same if not worse. Ugly and hates women. Good combo.

Not to say all guys are misogynistic but the ones that are better watch their tongues when they're around me. I don't listen to pathetic shit spew out of a pathetic excuse of a human beings mouth.

    I stick to my truth.

Yup, it is essentially misogyny. Society is still super patriarchal with a lot of idiots assuming that everything a woman does is to please a man >:/
I feel like it's worse for bi/pan women too, some men are just so sure they're straight and looking for male attention O_O

    Ooh hoo! Mic. Dropped.

It's men like that who aggravate me the most! I remember a point in my life long ago where I greatly disliked men in general and hated being lumped into the same sex as them; I've learned to let that go, though, because hate only fuels inequality even more. I've always seen men and women as equals in every form, but there are many notable (and loud) people out there who make an adamant effort to tip the scales in favor of their own.

For those of sexual orientation, can't we all just agree that sex is a wonderful thing and pleasure is of equal desire?
