Are you a tactile person?

    Just something I was thinking about.

    I don't consider myself as very tactile, at least not with people I'm not very close to. I do have a few friends with whom I'm extremely tactile: hugging, tickling, cuddling in bed, touching, holding hands when we go out.

    Then a girl thought I was cuddling with a friend because I was interested in her, which I'm not. I asked the girl if she'd never felt the desire to be tactile with people, and she said, "Maybe it doesn't come naturally for me, since with girls I'd be afraid of making them uncomfortable, and with guys I'd be afraid they'd get the wrong picture." (She's a lesbian.)

    And you know, I can kind of see where she's coming from. I'm only tactile with girl friends and one gay guy. I don't see myself acting like that with straight guys since I'd be afraid they might interpret it as interest. Straight girls are okay because girls can get away with the touchy-feely stuff a lot more easily.

    So I guess I was wondering, are you a tactile person? If so, is it with everyone, or just your significant other, or a select few people?
    Is your sexuality ever a barrier in this respect (ie, do you ever feel awkward about hugging someone of a gender you're attracted to or that is attracted to you)?

    Not at all. I hate being touched. I can cope with it at the gym, with women only, and occasionally my mum, but aside from that I hate being touched in any way. Unfortunately, I don't think that will change much!

    Im extremely tactile. I don't touch people if they don't want to be touched, but I love cuddling and hugging and all of that. It makes me feel loved.

    I don't mind being touched but I hate touching others. It makes me feel uncomfortable when I put my hand on someone's shoulder or holding their hand.

    It depends on the person. I wont touch and cuddle with just anyone but if I really like the person you bet I'm going to cuddle!

    I'm extremely tactile. Especially with girls that I am close to. If they arent interested in cuddling, holding hands, etc making them uncomfortable then I simply won't do it.

    I like touching with people i'm close to such as reassuring hands on shoulders, hugs, cuddles etc. Hoever when it comes to touching as in like sexual touching, I will probably kill you if you touch me when i'm not expecting it. xD

    Yes. I hug all of my friends. I like play-fighting as well. :slight_smile: The only thing I really hate is being tickled. I will kick you in the face if you tickle me.

    I'd like to be, but it doesn't work out like that. Until about two months ago, I was lucky to ever receive a hug. Now, one individual hugs me when they see me. It's... nice.

    No, not really. That's something I'd really like to change with the right person though. I just think I'd be awkward at first.
