I was in my sociology of gender class today and we where talking about pronouns and how people who are transgender are viewed in different countries. She then told us this story I copied it down in my notebook to the best of my ability and got the professor permission to post this her only worry was that it would be anonymous and this is anonymous so yay.

Many many years ago I had a concerned staff member approach me before the start of teaching this class and said to me student x has identity issues is it still OK for them to take your class. I responded by asking the staff member a question in return. Does the student identify as human? The staff member looked at me confused and asked what I meant. I responded by asking the staff member if the student identified as a chair or a table or a coke bottle. The staff member chuckled before growing very serious and whispering the student is a female but thinks there male. I responded by telling the member of staff that as long as they identify as human there should not be any problem.

I have so much respect for this professor! She is amazing and this course is so proggressive for a Catholic college and just YAYAYAYA (!)

Simple thinking. I love it. Why can't everything be this simple?

Basically my teacher was warned by another person that a student that was going to be in her class is transgender. In response to that my teacher made a point that as long as there human its fine for them to be in her class.

    LOL I love it!

Personally, I myself identify as a penguin. I should still be able to take that class right?
