Well...I like to think of it more as, having the same rights as humans, not as straight, trans, gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc. We should all just treat each other as what we are: humans.

That there shouldn't be any distinction between "LGBT rights" and Human Rights. It should just be Human Rights, 'cuz last I checked the definition of "human" still applies to me and the likes of me.

Definitely same. If we have more rights than they do, that means we'd be perpetuating the issue of inequality. Why would we wish that on anyone else?

Definitely not on my homosexual agenda.

I don't think anybody is going to try to push for more rights for LGBT people than heterosexuals, although in some Southern and Midwestern States I would love to see affirmative action apply to LGBT people as well, especially since those states may try to make it harder for an openly LGBT person get and keep a job. I don't think affirmative action is "extra rights" though, although I'm sure many people do, but that's a discussion for another day.

You're on a gay forum. What kind of response besides "yes" were you expecting?

What is there to think other than that LGBT+ persons are all human, so why are LGBT+ persons not treated as such?

Everyone should have equal rights. Orientation, gender, race... None of that should affect how one is treated.

We are all equal as people.

We only identify a subset of rights as "LGBT" rights to focus our efforts. But we deserve the same as anyone else of course.

As far as laws go they should apply in the same way regardless of orientation gender etc...

To take a simple example don't have one law for hetero marriage then add a special one for gay marriage. Word the marriage law to make it inclusive of hetero and non-hetero persons. Make the license application form inclusive/universal (i.e. don't put preset boxes for name of bride and name of groom for example). This example pertains to the civil/government portion of marriage, obviously.

At the moment I can't think of situations where it would make sense to provide through legislation extra privileges to non-hetero persons (unlike for example the ADA that provides parking spots closer to the entrance of a building for the use of persons with reduced mobility). Discuss .

the same rights for everyone. /thread :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

  17. I think that we all, whether gay, bisexual, straight, pansexual, black, white, Asian, male, female, genderfluid transgender, and cisgender, & etc, should have the same rights and be treated equally - I'm all for equality - And yes, that includes rights for the LGBTQ community!

Everybody has equal rights. Black, Asian, gay, lesbian, bi, transgender, male, female, religious, non-religious, and many other people I did not mention. All the same rights. Giving us more than everybody else is just wrong.

Who is asking for more rights? How come everyone accuses marginalized groups of trying to ask for more right when we're just asking to be treated as equals?

Just kidding. I think we all know exactly why that is.

I think LGBT rights is a bunch of complaining. We should stop spending money on AIDS research, and I hope to one day be murdered slowly and painfully by a slobbering idiot in Montana who thinks my voice sounds like I'm a pole rider.
