What U.S State would you like to move to?

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by anthonythegamer, Jan 24, 2015.

  1. In every country that is a federation (countries with regional laws and high governments), residents move to different states, provinces, territories, whatever you guys call them.

Most likely because of your job changing locations, but the most generic reason is better opportunities. The opportunities can include: getting married (for us), better education, higher job salaries, more job openings in your profession, lower cost of living, less crowding, and/or tax breaks.

I honestly plan to move to Washington State with my sister when I grow up, specifically the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan region. The housing is cheaper compared to California and the schools are better for the price I pay to live there. Also, Washington State has no income tax. Don't get me wrong, I support income taxes, especially for those that make over $250k a year, but California sucks at spending them properly while Washington state does a better job at managing their money.

What states do you guys want to move to later on?

I sort of romanticize Vermont and Maine, but they're too cold. A friend who lives in Vermont, and who spent about 10 years in California, loves it. What an adjustment! He is originally from the greater New York City area, so I guess he made the adjustment ok.

I wouldn't move to the US anyway (no free healthcare, services, extreme right, guns everywhere? No thanks.), but if I had to, I'd choose Vermont. Small state with few population, nature, a winter, great mentalities? Yup, good choice. But, it's still part of the US, which I don't particularly like...

I would like to move to the San Francisco Bay area, or the Seattle area.

I was all set to move out of the Austin area, and was looking for jobs in those area. I had interviewed for a contract gig in Minneapolis and they offered it to me. However the project was canceled, which is a bummer. I was excited and looking forward to it.

I ended up finding a really good job here in Austin with a good company. So looks like I'll be staying for a bit.

I think I would most likely stay in Tennessee and just move to Nashville. I could live there and get acquainted with what it feels like to live in a city. But I like the idea of going to college in CA(I just really like Stanford University for no reason whatsoever).

My partner and I have talked rather seriously about retiring to the San Francisco area when the time comes--of course that's twenty years from now so who knows what anywhere will be like by then. For now, we like Chicago.

I really like where I live (Michigan), but I'd like to move to Ann arbor or Grand Rapids. So much more to do....

Visiting San Diego and falling in love with it ... and living there are two very different things. It's very hard to explain. I've had friends who were initially very taken by it and then very disappointed.

I'd love to move to Northern Virginia after college (like the D.C. Metro area, Arlington or Alexandria).

I'm not from United States so I do not really have a clue about the real condition of each states but I think if I have to move to US, I would go for California. Right climate for us Southeast Asians, good Asian population and RELATIVELY gay friendlier than the rest of the United States.

On geography and other factors, I do like Idaho, and western Wyoming and Montana. Western Virginia, also.

On LGBT issues and geography, I do like New England, particularly Maine and Vermont like Tightrope.

In all likelihood, though, I'm staying in Texas. After all, someone has to make sure the family can claim 200 years of uninterruptedly living in Texas .

Other places on my list: Chicago, NYC, or maybe Seattle. I've been to 30 or so states mostly on the east coast and Chicago really stuck out, its an awesome city and I had a great time visiting. Growing up in NY I love snow but hate when January/February rolls around and its negative temperatures almost daily

Probably going to move to Pennsylvania in a couple years. Marriage equality, gun rights, cheaper gas, nicer roads, and it's close to home. I'm thinking about a career in law enforcement after I gradate, maybe i'll be a PA state trooper.

I would love to live in/near Seattle. Just anywhere that is not the south.
