What are the swearing rules again?

Not only is he generally inconsiderate, he's also boderline homophobic. Like the type who publicly acts cool but in private uses derogatory terms. He also plays awful music with the n-word all over it.

So, he's throwing a party tonight. He didn't ask any of us if it was okay if he threw a party. Last time he did that, one of his guests ran up my hallway, banging on our doors. He promised to block off the hallway, which he didn't. He didn't ask if it was okay if he installed freakin' subwoofers in the living room.

And, worst of all, the bass is SO LOUD I can't watch a movie or something. The music itself is at a...somewhat reasonable level, amazingly enough. My entire room is shaking. I'm wearing my headphones anyway because I want to minimize my hearing loss.

And I have chronic back pain, and my hips are flaring up. I've taken aleve and methocarbamol (a muscle relaxant), and it still hurts a lot. :frowning2:

tl;dr: I have a bunch of drunk, stoned strangers in my living room with a blaring bass and my back hurts.

Can you go to a friend's house for now?

And if the others who live there agree with you, then try talking to him again or search for another place to stay. Or considering asking him politely to stop doing that or leave (only if there isn't another option).

OR (when your hips get better) kick the douche out.

Landlord rents to us all separately. He won't kick him out as long as he doesn't completely trash the place and keeps up on his rent.

Earlier, when he was messing around the the music (before anyone arrived) I asked if he could keep the bass down. Not off, just less bass. The music itself is at a fine volume, the the bass is just overwhelming. He refused. :bang:

And is it possible the vibration from the bass is making my hips hurt more? 'Cause the methocarbamol/aleve combo always works, and my pain is just getting worse.

I hate your roommate, too. Ditto to what Chiroptera said

I want to know who decided that treble was less cool, too! :frowning2:

And I am looking for a new place, but I don't have a ton of options. I have to stay in the same general area so I can get to work on time. College town, not a whole lot of openings now. I've been seriously looking since early November.

I moved from my old place because of a roommate too. I pay like the triple of what i paid before now, but it is totally worth it since i now live alone, without anyone to bother me.

    It's only 11 here.

And now a bunch of people are having an argument outside my door. Lovely.

eta: and now someone's going to puke in my bathroom. I hope my roommate cleans that up. -.-

    ---------- Post added 24th Jan 2015 at 11:15 PM ----------

I ventured out to use the restroom (vomit free) and the toilet seat was vibrating.

Oh, and someone is using my bathroom. Grrrrr. I think I'm going to go and take all the toilet paper out. TP is expensive!

My roommates has repeatedly admitted he is a homophobe (in an almost bragging sense) and seems to hate gay people. He is disgusted even when he sees straight guys pretending to be gay.

So people are using my bathroom (well, the bathroom I share with 2 people) because my roommate didn't bother to stock his bathroom with toilet paper. I don't mind other people using my bathroom on occasion, but I don't want it to be used for an entire freakin' party.

Ugh I feel for you, obnoxious roommates are the worst!
Try talking to your landlord about it; maybe if he puts pressure on this roommate of yours he'll be more considerate.

Trust me, landlord won't do anything.

And people keep trying to get into my room. I'm glad I have a lock!

I think they locked themselves out of my bathroom. Great. Now *I* can't go pee.

If you call everyone that lives there and seriously talk to the guy, can't it work? If he isn't dangerous (because that would require a careful approach), then tell him you all agree that, if it happens again, you will call the police.

And, if it does happen, call the police (he is breaking some local laws with that, i think?).

If he is dangerous, then keep trying to find another place, peraphs just for you or with someone you trust. Even if you need to pay a little more, trust me, it is worth to live somewhere you can just get home and relax, without needing to worry about jerks.

I know what you mean. Actually, I plan to start looking for a new place myself, for similar reasons. Just last Friday, my roommate was blasting his music so loud I'm pretty sure the neighbors could hear.... Between midnight and 3am. He was the only one in the house not trying to sleep. And they are almost always yelling at each other.

    I've had enough of this.

I hope we both find a good place soon.

Roommate I was complaining about isn't violent. Another roommate is, but that's another story. I actually am complaining to my landlord about that.

So, unsurprisingly, the house looks terrible. Some girl I've never met is cleaning up. Roommate is nowhere to be seen (probably getting stoned).
