What will your next car be?

If you were going to buy a car tomorrow that's within your budget, what would you like to get and why?

Personally, my next car is going to be a crossover. Over Christmas Break, I came home from running an errand in my 2009 Chevy Impala and as I attempted to get up the hill of my parents' driveway that was covered in several inches of snow and ice, it became clear that it wasn't going to happen. I slid back down the hill and tried again. As I spun my wheels and my car filled with the stench of burning rubber, I thought to myself, "My next car is going to be AT LEAST an all-wheel drive!"

So what would I go buy? More than likely a used Buick Enclave, or if that was too expensive, a Buick Rendezvous. My first car was a 2002 Buick Century, and I miss that thing so much. That was the only car I've ever owned and probably ever will own that I could curl up and take a nap across the front seat if I put the console up. I only had it for a year, and I miss it. I think I'm a dedicated Buick owner as soon as I buy my next car. I will never own a minivan or a pickup, but I do like crossovers, and so I'd have to go with the Enclave, or on my current budget, more likely a Rendezvous.

If you get one of those cars get an enclave because it's more attractive than the rendezvous and they don't make the rendezvous anymore. So once you decide to trade it in you'll get more money for it.

I'm really keen for a VW beetle, the 2012 onwards model...

However I've still got a few years left in my car yet before I trade it in. So hopefully by the time I do the price of the beetle will have come down somewhat!

I don't know. Probably an MG ZR:

I love them, they're so much fun. Imagine 160hp in a car that barely weighs 1000kg and has no silly safety features. Right now I'm driving the more tame version of this car (yes that one is actually mine), so I kinda know what to expect.

But there are many cars I would like to own. Only rules: they should be European, slightly older, and fun to drive (i.e. good for cornering). And they should NOT be VW.

I don't really know how my/our budget will be then, but when I get my first car, but I would love an old hearse. Buy about fifty cans of black, glossy spray paint and go to town, then mount some horns on it...

But seriously. I'd love a big, all wheel drive truck once I can learn to drive one. Speed wouldn't really matter, as long as I could get to where I'd be going on time. If it had a growling engine and was glossy black, I'd fall in live.
I'm more likely to get a station wagon though. I wouldn't have a problem with it though, as long as I could customize it.

I could, probably, buy either one of these...

... but then I'd be experiencing a deficit of/with financial security, which isn't affordable (ha ha, I'm so clever) at the moment.

Still, these are my dream cars. I know, I'm fuckin' weird.

The '69 El Camino SS 396 in Tuxedo Black is an awesome car. I like the Chevelle from the same year as well.

Hopefully just my own two feet. I'm so tired of driving, traffic, car repairs, insurance, gas, all the time spend in congestion. If I never had to have a car again, I would not be sad.

If I did, I'd want a hybrid that got at least 60 MPG, or I'd wait till they get them up to the 100 mpg range.

    I don't want a gas-guzzler, or an SUV.

That's a great car too! If you can find a donor car to get a VIN off of, you can pretty much order the rest of the parts and build a pretty modern car with the classic styling.

I currently drive a late 90s volvo 270 that has it's um... own personal flair. I'd like to get a newer model with a manual shift, but my current automobile still has a long life ahead.

I'm due for a new car in the spring. I tend to do a lot of hiking and camping and driving in general so I want a small SUV that gets good gas like a 2010 or newer Rav4.

If I can't find one in my price range runners up are a 2012 Accord or Camry.

It probably won't be for a few years at least because my car is pretty new, but I'd say an Audi is most likely, particularly an A4 or A6. I love Lexus but thus far they are resisting Android Auto and I'm sick of dealing with the OEM versions which always seem to be the weak point.

If I stick with Lexus, probably another IS or upgrade to the GS but I kind of like having a smaller car.

My first car was a Volvo and I liked it a lot but I'm not a fan of the current styling (or at least what it was when I was in the market last year). I'll at least give them a look next time.

See the problem is....NOTHING is within my budget at the moment. I don't have a budget. I have nada. I'll get back to you when I can afford something other than milk and eggs.
