Suprised there hasnt been a thread about it yet since it starts in 3 hours.

Who do you want to win? who do you think will win? Do you think the patriots cheated and does it matter?

If you don't like football, are you going to watch the halftime show? Do you think Katy Perry will do a good job?

I don't know who is playing. I didn't know who was doing the half time show. I will be studying, or at least trying to.

Honestly not a sports guy. I might watch, and if I do, I'll be rooting for the Seahawks, because they have a cool mascot and are from the same city as Nirvana.

Rooting for Seahawks I guess but I'm not watching. My dad was a huge Seahawks fan so it's nice to see them play for the second year in a year. Wish he could've seen it.

Anyway, I'll probably just watch Netflix because neither me nor my partner are into sports.

    My Super Bowl picks are:
    Katy Perry over Idina Menzel
    Commercials over the game
    Seahawks over the Patriots

Seriously, who thought it was a good idea for Katy Perry to perform at the Superbowl?

Don't care for both teams, but I'd go for the Seahawks only on principle. Frankly, of the AFC/NFC teams, I would have much rather preferred Packers/Colts game, with the Colts winning.

Oh, and I can't wait for any subtly gay-ambigious commercials like this one, which is one of my more favorite Super Bowl commercials.

My very straight friend says it's because she is super hot and maybe she'll have a Janet Jackson-like incident. Deflategate. Nipplegate

I kind of suspect this is some sort of American invention right? Since I am in europe, I'd continue to insist that "football = the name of the game". And not American football, but anyway :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:, so to summarize: never had watched it...just once made an attempt to watch american football and it seemed as the most boring thing ever, it was more boring than watching a dick cheney speech...

Soccer is a 90-minute snoozefest where, if lucky, they'll score more than a couple of times . I will say football commercials (because of timeouts, play reviews, etc.) can really drag the game out. Benefit of soccer is that it has no commercials in the two halves.

I wanted New England to get into the Super Bowl since it makes things more interesting around here, but I'd prefer to see Seattle win. More than anything I'd like to have luck with my squares this year, but based on the numbers I was stuck with it looks like I'm screwed there.

Oh well, looking forward to it anyways.

Still, one needs way more physical stamina to survive in soccer. Ever tried to run from one part of the football pitch to the other one without interruption? Likely you cannot. And even more likely: American football players can't do it.
Running like crazy 45 minutes without rest needs some power. Also: football injuries are more serious/heavier than american football ones.

On a final note: I don't care too much about football these days...too caught into work/life to care about ball games...when I got more spare time I'd rather watch boxing or mma.

well then these 'murderers' should consider a career change...because for every heavy injury in american football - i can think of 10 more injuries way more serious that happen in football. I've never read about people dying on the pitch in US football...in fact I once read about a guy who ended up paralyzed playing....british rugby (on that note i am not british so not defending soccer due to national bias or so, it's just far more dynamic and interesting to watch), not so many pauses in it.

Comparing football to soccer is like comparing apples to oranges. Football (especially televised games) has a lot of stops and starts. Soccer is continuous action sport. Also, football has a lot of padding, so that helps to reduce some injuries (although, there are still some really bad injuries). There are people that have had serious brain injuries or have been paralyzed from football. There is a potential for that to happen in almost any sport. As you build more weight and add more speed, the potential for serious injuries in any sport goes up.

I'll be watching the game if I have cable. With the winter storm hitting right now, my cable has been in and out all day.

Yeah, well nothing compares to hockey. The single most rough and dangerous team sport.

I def. see myself watching hockey over american football. At least there is more action in that sport...but it's just not popular in the "culture" I am used to....so i'd stick to football, mma, boxing OR basketball/tennis/formula 1 (if I am bored).
