I'm interested in what everyone thinks about this? Voice calls or texting? I mean with anyone with this question to. It could be a friend, enemy, or hell it could even be your mother. What do you prefer?

I think texting is a lot easier but, talking is just a lot more real.

I like texting a lot more. I'm scared as hell of phone calls, i don't know why. I think i just hate talking when i can avoid it.

    Depends.

If I'm getting to know somebody, I like to talk to them face-to-face a time or two, then maybe fill in between those sessions with text. Voice calls are fine, too, but a little later.

I know, not a terribly exciting answer.

Well, I text cause its cheaper for me on the phone plan I have.
I get unlimited text and internet/data, but my phone calls are limited.

Not that I ever get any.....

I'm finding more and more that texting is both tiring and can lead to a lot of misunderstandings. I guess I'm old-fashioned but I like to hear a voice on the other end of the phone and I get lot more information from that. Things like tone of voice, mood, pauses, etc; they all say so much more than just words.

Texting is easier for me with most people. I don't like the way my quiet voice sounds on the phone--it's just easier getting to put more thought into what you say and having time between responses.

I hate talking on the phone, as quite a few others have said here before...Glad I'm not the only one :astonished: Even though texting can make certain things feel ambiguous, I still prefer it over phone calls.

Texting if we're just discussing something simple, calling if it's more complicated or too long to text out.

I don't see how texting is easier. There are times when it's more appropriate, but for some heart to heart talks with a friend or a loved one, I think it's sad that it has replaced the use of voice. I sort of blame texting for taking interpersonal communication down to a new low. Speaking is faster, nuanced, and then some. You can tell a lot about a person from what is said, how it's said, and what's not said. Much more so than with a text message or an e-mail. I guess I don't understand how some people would text 100% of the time if they could.

Texting is more convenient in certain situations and those that convey facts (e.g. addresses) where there is an automatic record of the information.

Phone conversations are nice because you get all of the nuances and you can quickly ask the other person for clarification in a way that's more convenient than texting, as Tightrope mentioned above.

Texting to me has less emotion...well my voice is monotone so I usually text.

Voice calls...they're more personal and you can hear the tone in a persons voice.

Texting. PLEASE. I can barely understand people talking face to face with me. How the hell am I supposed to understand someone over the phone? Also, I sound like a girl on the phone.

Texting is a win-win situation for me. Neither conversation partner has to stop what they're doing, we both understand each other, and no one has to hear me say "WHAAAAAAAAAT?"

I prefer texting. It's a lot less personal but it's easier for me because then there aren't those chirping crickets moments, as when you're talking on the phone. I don't even like when people call me on my work phone, or when they talk to me in real life, because there are always awkward silences and it makes me extremely uncomfortable. I'm not much of a conversationalist anyway, which probably exacerbates the problem. But yeah, texting all the way.

The only time I'll phone someone willingly, is when I quickly want to tell them something, or find out something from them and I don't want to risk them not receiving or not reading the text(s). In general, when chatting to someone, I prefer texting. Even though the network is sometimes a little dodgy and texts take long to come through/send.

I guess everything has its pros and cons
