What if AIDS and all STDs didn't exist? What would this be like for you?

I was pondering this hypothetical question. Suppose we lived in a world where there was no such thing as sexually transmitted diseases.

How do think this would effect yourself, and others?

Would you be more prone to experiment before settling down, or would you choose not to 'settle down' with one partner? Or would you go wild?

I was pondering this as well that there's a lot more guilt/shame associated with STDs than, say, the flu, or a sinus infection. It's weird. Just because they're sexual, people feel worse about them.

But back to the topic at hand:

What do you think your life might be like in such a world?

Myself, I know I'd do a bit of experimenting, along with my partner, but probably not too much. It would still have to involve others with whom we had a connection or affinity towards; it's hard for me to imagine 'random' sex or what people call 'just sex'. Plus, I'm very fussy, and have certain odd kinks that are uncommon enough so as not to be all that easy to find many others into.

Everything good in moderation... the thread says AIDS and STDs. But STIs are a different story. So I'd be careful.

    *AIDS/STDs/STIs exist*
    Me: Single and sexless.

    *AIDS/STDs/STIs cease to exist*
    Me: Still single and sexless.

To be totally honest, it wouldn't change very much. I'd still be in the same situation I'm in, when it comes to intimate matters.

Well straight women would not have to worry about unwanted pregnancies, babies are the worst STD of them all.

May or may not become a whore.

Well it's clear that the condom industry would cease to exist...

Also I'd probably end up being a total man-slut. Just saying.

The condom industry will still be in business. For STIs... I am trying to tell people they are a bit different than STDs. And if women don't want kids and aren't on birth control but still would like to screw like rabbits. So condoms would still be useful... just not as useful.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still have a little more sex. But I don't get any now because I'm still single. I say a little more because i would be a little open to go out a bit more.

    This.

It wouldn't change much at all; not particularly interested in sex now, so I still wouldn't be under this circumstance.

Add to that that the title 'single and sexless' seems so fitting personally, heh.

Not in the slightest. Fear of STDs plays no role for me, as I'm in a committed relationship and both of us are clean.

    --Doesn't mean I wouldn't want to try out being a man-whore, though. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'm sure STIs are included in this hypothetical and HuskyPup just forgot.

    Wouldn't matter.

My views on sex have not changed and would not change.

And........Im sure people would find me just as hideous as they do now.

    So, nothing would change.
Only a LOT more people breeding like flies.

I was just thinking about how awesome this would be...

    If only...

Though, I guess society would be even more sex-crazed than it is xD

    True!

I do think it would change things a good deal...there would be much less fear, and a good deal less shame. Plus, you could do things that were formerly not 'safe', and have no fear about them, which would be a huge plus.
