HOW THE FUCK IS OBAMA WINNING ALABAMA, TENNESSEE, AND TEXAS?

Seriously...wow...McCain only has three or four states in the mock election. That's a pretty huge margin. I can't wait until this generation can vote.

Yeah, we had mock elections here, too, and even though our city is primarily conservative (I don't believe we've ever had another party win in our riding) the school vote had the Green Party win a majority vote of 56%.

I think, that at least in the case of where I live, it was a combination of changing views from one generation to the next (as always happens to some extent) and the fact that a lot of teens around here aren't fans of the city we're in, so it's kinda a "fuck you" to the city. Not terribly mature... but, y'know.

if i read correctly what you said: i have a comment.

I think this generation WOULD vote for Obama, not McCain. I know I support Obama, and Socialism. Socialism isn't even that bad, people just assume so because it's not a democracy.. or it reminds them of communism -- which also isnt even that bad if its true communism.

Socialism is bound to fail for the same reason that America's version of capitalism doesn't work, corruption. Yes, I agree that if socialism would actually work it's a great idea, but it doesn't. Capitalism works because it's a mix of the two extremes, on had you have government handing things out and citizens don't have a say in what they "need", and the other hand no government regulation means that some people become really powerful and it ends up in a tyranny. But capitalism says we need some regulation from the government but since the people get to decide who is in the government, they have a say in what the government can and can't do.

My school held a mock election.

    The results:

0.2% write in candidates, including Mickey Mouse
    0.7% Ralph Nader
    25% John McCain
    75% Barack Obama.

My daughter is interning in a 1st and 2nd grade classroom right now. They had a mock election in there. She said that the kids could share who they voted for and every one of them said Obama. When the teacher asked what their reasons were none of them knew. lol This is in Arizona by the way, John McCain's home state. So either they just like saying his name or their parents were voting for Obama. Hmmm....

We didn't do a mock election, but our school seems pretty split. For the most part, we've avoided talking politics....until today. There were pretty heated arguments all day today. Most people support Obama, but, except for several vocal supporters, they don't talk about it much. McCain has fewer supporters, but they tend to be loud (and annoying...) about their support.
