As you all probably know I'm a huge Metallica fan. So I was listening to this song last night... and the lyrics really fit the current situation with Prop 8 and similar legislation. I don't think that was their intent, but if you read the lyrics it totally makes sense. Here are the lyrics: Born to push you around Better just stay down You pull away, He hits the flesh, You hit the ground Mouth's so full of lies Tend to black your eyes Just keep them closed, Keep praying, Just keep waiting [Chorus:] Waiting for the one The day that never comes When you stand up and feel the warmth But the sunshine never comes No, the sunshine never comes Push you cross that line Just stay down this time Hide in yourself, Crawl in yourself, You'll have your time God, I'll make them pay Take it back one day I'll end this day, I'll splatter color on this grey [Chorus] Love is a four letter word And never spoken here Love is a four letter word Here in this prison I suffer this no longer I put it into This I swear! This I swear! The sun will shine This I swear! This I swear! This I swear! the song itself:
Heh, I've noticed quite a few Metallica songs like this, my personal favourite being "Holier than Thou".
Nice observation there, some songs really are timeless. not to start a metal feud or anything, but... I think the above is true for several of Megadeth's really old songs too. Peace Sells, Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners, The Disintegrators, Set The World Afire, etc... going to see the 'Deth in feb with Judas Priest and Testament, can't effing wait!
