At home I use my own computer. But sometimes I have to leave it running and I don't want to close my browser windows. So I use a little tool called MinimizerXP to hide my windows in the System Tray, so no-one who walks in can see what I'm up to.

I also put any private files on virtual disks to prevent people from 'accidentally' finding them.

What kind of security (if any) do you use?

Password that no-one knows and I'm the only user on this computer so there is no chance of anyone getting into my files by using another account.

    Nothing at all.

Anyone can use my computer and can see my porn collections but to do that they have to come to my apartment and I rarely let anyone in:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

⌘+H ->It hides the windows of the application that you're running.
I usually log out when I'm not using the computer-or quit whatever I
was doing. I go on private browsing for Safari, and my screen is
facing away from the door so it's easy to hide what I'm doing.

I usually just clear my history and log out of Myspace.

My mom is the only other person to use this computer and she doesn't know how to do anything like search the hard-drive.

    Um...
    I don't really need privacy.

Nothing obscene is on my computer.
Its in my room, Im the only user, password protected and I always press the sleep button when i leave, even to use the bathroom.
    Although I don't know why.

My friends log on all the time.
The only slightly out of lace thing is a topless picture of Mitch Hewer.
But I don't care who sees, its not as if theyre going to question why i have it.

I lock the computer when I'm away from it (Win+L)

All my "images" are kept in a Truecrypt volume

If I'm going to take my laptop to school I clear browser history (ctrl+shift+del) first to remove traces of EC and the like.

For a "bosskey" I use virtuawin. Obviously at work I wouldn't have any porn or anything open, but a quick Win+arrow and my wikipedia / gmail browser is hidden.

As there's only me that uses my PCs I don't need to do anything about privacy. Though now I have a lodger (who fortunately is a technophobe and wouldn't touch them anyway) I have set the screensaver to just a few minutes and to go to the login screen. She obviously doesn't know my password.

My porn is hidden in a rarely-accessed (even by me) folder.
Nobody can figure out how to type on my Dvorak keyboard, or how to switch it back to "normal".
And I tell them "There's porn on there - don't go looking if you're going to be offended."

I usually lock my computer whenever I'm away from it for extended periods of time. Seeing as how I'm the only one who uses it, though, that's about it. I considered password protecting my porn once, but it was too much of a hassle.

I have my own computer in my room, my brother has his own & my parents use a laptop so no one uses mine at all but i do lock my porn, poetry, passwords etc. up with a program called Folder Lock and then i just erase browser history if someone does end up needing to use my comp.

    I'm on my phone.

When I'm on a PC its either: at school, where no one can even get onto GodTube; at the library, where I delete all of the history; or on the lame-ass computer at home that no one else uses.

I do lock my phone though. If my parent knew I had a Myspaceor Facebook, or was on EC, they'd have a shit. LOL.

The only thing on my computer that I wouldn't want people to see is the browser history. I delete that whenever I visit a naughty site, or if I know someone is going to go on my computer (or be in my room) I do go on EC on my mom's computer when she's not home and whenever she comes home I have a mini panic attack that I forgot to close EC, but that's never happened. And I delete the history on that computer whenever I go on EC.

I just erase the history, and close any windows when I leave. If I'm on something when someone comes in, I switch tabs and close out the other one by clicking the scroll button on the tab...and erase the history once they've left.

I have my own laptop, so I don't take many security measures. I have it password-protected, anyway.
I don't really look at porn, and the most suspicious sites I have bookmarked are just, like, transgender advice sites. I almost wouldn't mind my parents finding them, it'd make things a lot easier. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Such a gentleman Lex.

Before I had this computer I used to have to use the 'family' one.

I had my own user as did my brother.
Password protected was all I needed, because I never logged on when other people were around.

And no-one is clever enough to change my password.
Although I did do it to my brother and found quite unsettling things...

    aha

Nobody else uses my laptop, so there's not that much need to do much to protect my privacy.

That said though - it does require a password to wake from sleep.

    i just don't.
not the best idea, considering my parents did go through my computer a couple of years ago.
but at the moment, it's broken anyway.
