I'll start off. I'm from Northern Ireland so:

    I must be a terrorist

    I must be a drunkard

    I must speak weird

I must hang flags outside my house

I must hate on all my neighbours

I must argue non-stop everyday about my nationality as if it's important

    I must be a bible-thumper

Fortunately I'm not any of these things, though my voice is probably a bit weird to those not seasoned to our accents :icon_bigg

What are the stereotypes of where you're from?

    I must be illiterate

    I must be ignorant

    I must be homophobic

    I must be racist

I must be a Baptist Christian

I must hang Confederate flags outside my house

    I must use tobacco products

Ok, so the stereotype of an Aussie bloke

    1. The Redneck stereotype is actually the Aussie stereotype to be honest

and I am not a Redneck, I am a male who tends to be rather strange compared to all the other Aussies cause I don't drink, I don't fight in bars, I'm not a big and tough guy. Also the Aussie stereotype is all about masculinity, beat up people, show off to everyone and be a giant prick.

I'm a black girl from London UK so I guess the stereotypes are uneducated, loud, "ghetto", rude. Which is the complete opposite of what I am like. Currently in university in my third year, I'm very quiet and a little awkward and I'm very polite all the time, even if it means having to bite my tongue.

    -We're all suntanned
-All the girls have valley-girl accents
    -We all have expensive tastes
-We wear flip-flops everyday. We do have rain here!
-We go to the beach frequently
    -Everyone personally knows a celebrity
    -We're all rude

The last one is something I can somewhat explain (NOT TOO ACCURATE!!!). In my experience, everybody kinda keeps to themselves. We'll open the doors for each other and such, but most of us are street-smart.

I think it's because of the crime we experience here. I've seen people in other states (I've been to Utah and Colorado) and they really look out for each other. People accept help from people they don't know and half of the people I've interacted with don't even lock their doors. In SoCal, we keep to ourselves and I do think that we would feel quite conflicted if we were to reach a helping hand, especially if we have to be very involved, we could get into some issues.

I've often heard remarks like "What if she's insane?!" and "That could be a serial killer!" It's just people being careful.

We all live in igloos. It may snow for half the year (depending on which province) but we do live in houses.

We all love hockey. I'm not into sports.

We are all very friendly. True.

    New York Stereotypes:

    - Everyone believes that their part of New York is the best part of New York.
    - We'll wage wars over our imaginary borders.
    - There's always an apple orchard or Dunkin' Donuts within walking distance.
    - We are "very opinionated".
    - Every person is a horrible driver.
    - Upstate is a myth to Downstaters.
    - The politicians are all working for the benefit of "downstairs" according to Upstaters.

    And this map...

    From Texas.

So. Super conservative, bible-thumping, and being all around disconnected with how things are. Also the whole cowboy thing.

I haven't lived here for very long, but people definitely assume if you're from Connecticut, you're a snooty rich WASP. Also apparently we all wear boat shoes and polos with popped collars >.<
