My car pooped out on me as I was leaving the work parking lot last night. It is pushing that 100,000 mile mark, and I travel a bunch with work. Those two factors considered, I have decided that it is time to get a new car. There is no real point in this post other than the fact that I am kind of excited about my first "grown up" purchase, and I needed an outlet. Having a car payment won't be fun, but a car I can depend on should be.(!)

Cool that you're getting a new car, our 94 Cavalier has 280,000 and is still running strong, but we're selling it as we have too many vehicles. Good luck on finding a new car, if you need any help PM me.

You can definitely count on me, too... car buff here.

What kind of car were you looking for? Certain functionality/brand/price range?

Thanks guys. I intend to go with a Honda Fit. Gets good mileage, can hold a lot of junk, has good reviews, and is not too expensive. The basic model with do me just fine as I am not picky about bells and whistles. Just need something to get me and my hobbies from point A to point B.

    Yay! That's a good choice!

Side note: In the UK (Europe), and Australia it's known as the Jazz.
The American model has a longer nose though.

Good choice. A lot of people go wild when they buy a car and get in massive amounts of debt, but it's great that you want something so practical and reasonable.

It's a nice car, and would be at the top of my list if something happened to my Element.

So you're getting that with a manual transmission, right? RIGHT?

Good luck and enjoy the new car!

    Mini Cooper!

    It's the best car ever.

You should get a mini cooper. Or even better! A stretch mini, those things are so cute

The Fit is a good choice! I used to work at a Honda dealership. Try going online to get some prices. Right now the Fit is in high demand. Good luck.

The Mini-Cooper is cool, but not as budget friendly. The Fit was the logical choice based on function and money. I really see a car as more of a good tool. My pride and joy is actually, as far as cool factor is concerned, my Diamondback Mission 3 bike:eusa_danc. The car more so because it is a big step. A bit silly perhaps, but that is how I think.

xequar, Going with an automatic. I don't know how to drive a stick. It's something I could learn, but don't really care to.

I actually have emails out right now requesting some quotes. Hopefully they will get back to me soon.

I agree - the fit is a nice choice, especially today.

Nice choice with automatic too. Dpending where you are, stick can be nice, but in the city commute, it's horrible. Better off with easy automatic.
