    I was just wondering what is made when Copper Oxide and Carbon are in a test tube with a Bunsen burner under it?? I've searched and I can't figure out what it makes:help:

  2. CuO2 right? If there is a reaction, it should make Cu+ CO2. I think. This is in an aqueous solution? I think this is what it should look like:

    CuO2+ C --heat--> Cu+ CO2

    Oh lord, it's been forever since chemistry. But, yeah, what Drizzt has looks reasonable to me.

    Copper metal + Carbon dioxide.
    CuO2 +C ----> Cu + CO2

    I don't think it needs to be in an aqueous solution.

    (OMG, I haven't touch these stuff for years, so I might be wrong)

    Carbon is a more reactive cation than Copper when it comes to reacting with Oxgen (I totally forgot the rules for the chart, but I confirmed this with a friend.)

    So Carbon would displace Copper to form Carbon dioxide.

    1) if it's Copper 2

    2 CuO + C = CO2 + 2 CU

    2) If it's Copper 1

    2CU2O + C = C02 + 4 CU

    I hope that helps.. And I pray that I am right or else I would have given you the wrong info.

  6. Yeah, I think this is right. Copper is mainly Cu^2, I think. I was thinking it was Cu^4.

    ROFL! That sounded so wrong!
    But anyways, I'm so bad at stuff like this! It makes no sense to me.
    I'm good with quantum mechanics though.....weird.

  11. :roflmao: It was meant to...
    I like chemistry. It's just the math part of it I don't like. The chemical reaction stuff isn't too bad.

  19. It's only proper, as we've ruined this thread. Sorry. 2Cu2O+ C= CO2+ 4Cu!
