"Filipa" is of greek heritage - Philippos

it roughly translates to "one who loves horses"
(philos = love; hippos = horse)
for the same reason, some people also atribute to this name another meaning: "one who loves the war"

 

Name meanings are fascinating, because most people probably don't really consider meaning much when they give someone a name--it's more about the sound, I'd think.

My name "Tennyson" means "son of Dennis" (but that's not my dad's name lol). The name "Dennis" comes from Dionysus, the Greek god of wine

 

my given name means something like "excellent at war" or "the undefeatable"

 

Cyril means "Lordly, Masterful". Keeewl! Never really thought of Google-ling my name. Well atleast there's a part of me that is noble and royal.

I've pretty much decided on (and it COULD change, but I'm almost certain this is it) Alexander Athan. Which is Leader of men and Immortal.... which is kind of awesome.
